Twin sister name to go with Freya

Hi,

We’ve recently found out we are expecting twin girls. We like Freya for one twin but not sure about what to call the second twin. Ideally we’d like a name beginning with A. Any suggestions please? X

I absolutely love the name Annie and think it works with Freya with the difference A sounds so it's not a mouthful

Wow, thank you for the suggestions, it’s really kind of you all!

My husband really likes Ariella, which we hadn’t thought of before. And he vetoes most names I suggest so that is a real bonus.

I also really like Astrid and Athena. Another name on our short list is Alba. Thanks again everyone!

My friend has an Ariella and at high school she was teased with the nickname Areola. Kids are cruel! Alva is a Norse name like Freya and similar to Alba which is Spanish.

It's not an A name but what about Torvi? Freya was the Norse god of love and fertility, and Torvi was the female equivalent of Thor!

The first name to come to mind, before I'd even seen you wanted an A name was Freya and Adelaide

MysticCT · 02/07/2022 08:44

Ajla, pronounced Eyela is lovely but she would probably have a lifetime of people misspelling it.
Aida

Another vote for Freya and Astrid. I rather like Ariadne too.

turquoise1988 · 02/07/2022 08:11

I'm personally less keen on names that also end in A. I don't know, it kind of sounds like more of a mouthful when you say them together... like Freya and Ava, for example. Obviously I appreciate that they won't always be joined at the hip though.

I prefer Freya and Astrid to Freya and Athena.

I immediately thought Anya before even reading you wanted an A, but it may be too many -yas.
