It's OK in a scottish accent. Archibald is not good. Archer is fine as a surname, awful as a first name. Arch is truly dreadful

It was compulsory to call every newborn boy Archie or Alfie a few years ago.

I used to work with an Archie, he must have been early 30s and very senior, successful software engineer. No one thought he had a baby's name, it was just his name

Made me think of meghan markle but putting her aside just sounds really lame.

Imagine archie as a man. I mean what type of man do you see in your minds eye? It's not cool, sexy, strong or anything other than wanky. No?!

I don't like it, same as the other boy names that end in -ie, like Alfie, Reggie, Ronnie.

It’s ok. I think a nn as a first name is a bit embarrassing in adult years. But the alternative ‘Archibald’ is not pleasant.

Love the name - we have one in the family, such a cute name for a little boy but now he's a big, strapping adult, he's known as Arch

Archie is fine. Inoffensive and popular. Mumsnet make a fuss about diminutives as full names, but that’s such a huge trend that I can’t foresee any problems with these names growing up. There are dozens in the top hundred alone. And for what it’s worth, Archie is far better than Archibald, even if your preferred style is a more formal first name.

It's very popular but a nice name. I'd like a full name version too though, I can only think of Archer and Archibald that it could be a shortening for and I'm not keen on those, there may be other options though.

I don't get people who say 'it's a baby name' type thing. Literally all names go through trends and then years later they will all be the old men! There will come a day that all Archies and Noahs are the older generation and not used on babies anymore!
It's not what I would choose but probably just because I've known a few children called Archie, so I prefer to pick something less common - personal preference. Nothing wrong with the name.
