Amazing photo, @RustyBear!

I have a Rebecca in my family tree who would have been born in around 1700.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 29/06/2022 21:04

I wouldn't have put the name Rebecca on someone born in what I assume would have been the 1800

It’s a pretty traditional name I think? (I mean, as you say it’s in the Bible, but even allowing that not all biblical names have been popular all along, I think that one has been steadily used)

There are four Rebeccas from the 1700s in my family tree and a few more from the 1800s.

That is wonderful, @RustyBear 😍

. Although its a Biblical name I wouldn't have put the name Rebecca on someone born in what I assume would have been the 1800

On my mothers side
Ann Maria (b1868)
Emily (b1876)

On my father's side
Jane (b1835)
Sarah Ann (b1864)

There was almost 30 years between mothers of my grandparents on my fathers side. My grandfather's mother Jane was born 187 years ago, and was 6 years older than my grandmother's grandmother.

The two who's names I know we're Jean and Winifred.

SommerTen · 28/06/2022 16:23

I think Winifred met me when I was a baby in 1976, then she died soon after. She was from Dorset & he was a Scottish sailor.

Lilian died in 1960, she was one of the first ever women soldiers who served in France in ww1 in the WRAC. Her husband was Jewish but converted to Christianity.

Elizabeth died in the 1920s I believe. Her docker husband was a bigamist when they got married & had 11 children.

Annie was rumoured to have been Romany, photos show she had dark olive skin & always wore her long black hair in ear plaits like Carrie Fisher in Star Wars.

One was Jane and one was Eva. On my Dad's side I don't know.

It kind of shocks me that I don't know. It's just my grandparents' parents. Wow.

My grandparents were all dead by the time I was out of primary school. My dad's parents died when he was a very young boy. I only really know their names and those of the previous generation because I've done some family tree related research. My DC only had one live grandparent after they were 3 and that one died when they were in High School. We are unfortunately not a very long lived family. There is currently no-one alive on mine or DHs side who is older than mid 60's. Obviously we are hoping to buck the trend.

Navykitchen · 27/06/2022 00:37

Jane, Isabella, Mary, Ellen
