I love Maci but my husband loves Jayda and Piper. Thoughts?

None of those 3 are very nice op sorry.

Kione · 20/06/2022 14:32

*like

Kione · 20/06/2022 14:31

Piper brings to mind Orange is the new Black and even there I thought it was an odd name.

Don't lime Jayda.

Maci nope, Maisie is lovely.

IcecreamForAlcohol · 20/06/2022 14:27

Jayda is like Jayden for a girl and a bit chavy.

Macy or Macie are ok but not Maci. It would always be pronounced Mackie.

Piper is the least bad.

I wouldn't saddle my DD with any of them to be honest.

SummerPuddings · 20/06/2022 14:22

What about Maisie instead?

SleepingStandingUp · 20/06/2022 14:13

Piper is beautiful.

Maci I read as Maccies as in Maccies D's for tea, then reread as Macie as in Macie Grey (sic). Imo you need the E to capitalise the sound of the a (magic E!) as otherwise it literally is m ah cuh ih vs m aye si ee

Jayda is fine but not ry keen

Chaoslatte · 20/06/2022 14:13

I don’t really like any of them but Jada, spelt like that rather than the made up spelling, is ok.
Piper is a bit weird to me because what do you shorten it to, pipe? Pippa would be a lovely alternative.
Maci is just a bit downmarket however you spell it - teen mom vibes.

Imogensmumma · 20/06/2022 14:10

All horrible sorry…. Remember it’s not a baby your naming but a child who will go to school and then job interviews….
Better to use the proper spelling/ name like Jayde or Jade and call her Jayda as a nickname

AngelsWithSilverWings · 20/06/2022 14:10

Jayda just makes me think of that awful racist women.

Maci ok but spell it the usual way as this doesn't look right.

Piper - not keen but it's not awful.

TokenGinger · 20/06/2022 14:06

If they're spelt correctly, they're much nicer.

Macie/Macy/Macey - fine.

Jada, much better than Jayda.

Piper is lovely.

Purposely misspelt names, in the name of "uniqueness" are very often associated with lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and people draw negative associations from that, and it'll set your daughter up with preconceptions about her background for a very long time.

SagittariusDwarf · 20/06/2022 14:04

Not a fan of any of them.

laurac28 · 20/06/2022 14:03

Ah I have a daughter called Jayda so of course I like it she's 11 now I never knew anything about it being chavvy when I named her just thought it sounded nice and unusual . we live in Ireland though so maybe its different here. The name means wise in Hebrew

IamNannyPlum · 20/06/2022 14:03

I like Piper out of the 3.

toastofthetown · 20/06/2022 14:00

I prefer Piper. It sounds like such an upbeat, cheerful name to me.

Hoppinggreen · 20/06/2022 13:59

SharpLily · 20/06/2022 13:44

I think you'll get a better response on Netmums...

I'm sorry OP, I don't want to be bitchy but you've asked for opinions so I feel it's fair enough to tell you that I think they're all awful.

Yep

ColmanFlamingo · 20/06/2022 13:59

Piper is sweet, I know a lovely one. I prefer the traditional spellings of Jada and Macy.
There's a lot of Kayla, Braylen, Kayden, Jayden... around at the moment which is why I think you've gone down that route but honest I think Jada is perfectly fine without the extra Y.

PashunFroot · 20/06/2022 13:57

Netmums isn’t full of middle class snobs op

Glitterspy · 20/06/2022 13:54

Yes you’d get different feedback on Nethuns

Lunificent · 20/06/2022 13:53

The only Jayda I know of is the woman from the far right group, Britain First.

SharpLily · 20/06/2022 13:49

Sophielaser11 · 20/06/2022 13:47

@SharpLily oh I’ve never been on netmums. Are the responses different?

Oh yes. They'll probably love those names.

Sorry, I do realise I'm being snobby.

ThatshallotBaby · 20/06/2022 13:48

I really like Piper.

Glitterspy · 20/06/2022 13:48

Sorry but my thoughts are that you should keep on thinking.

Maci doesn’t look right somehow - Macy is a more normal spelling but it’s a low quality US department store and this is all it makes me think of. At least call your child Bergdorf Goodman.

Piper is a nice name but for a dog or a horse, not a child.

Jayda. I’ve never seen or heard it before but I don’t like Jade as a name (chavvy connotations, sorry) and Jayda is just prolonging the agony.

milkmilkeverywhere · 20/06/2022 13:48

OP are you feigning ignorance?! 😅
