For a girl of course
yes/ no?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I prefer Piper.
I love Phillipa, too. I'm on the fence with Pippa, sorry !

toastofthetown · 19/06/2022 13:33

If it’s a concern, Pippa doesn’t travel well in much of Europe. That would put me off the name.

Yes. Using it now will suggest you wish to be associated with people related to royalty.

Guess it’s fine if that’s what you want!

What? That’s a stretch.

So what about all the kids called George, Charlotte, William, Mia, Lucas, Savannah etc. names that are children in the actual royal family rather than someone’s sister that most people have forgotten about.

This is insane.

Does calling your kid George also imply this?

Luredbyapomegranate · 19/06/2022 13:26

Better as a short form of Philippa

Pippa is sweet but quite little girly, she might prefer a more elegant grown up name when she’s grown up

I know a little Pippa and that never occurred to me either. What about people who call their child Kate, William or any other of the perfectly ordinary, commonly used "royal" names?

Pippa is a lovely name, the one I know gets lots of compliments about it.

balalake · 19/06/2022 13:21

No I think. Too many will assume it is Philippa and been abbreviated.

PinkButtercups · 19/06/2022 13:21

I think it's a cute name!

I don't like it anymore because the person opposite me whilst in labour with DS was called Phillipa (Pippa) and she was on the birthing ball at 3am when she wasn't in labour and it made the most awful noise on the floor to the point I wanted to pop the bastard ball 😄

Geranium1984 · 19/06/2022 13:19

Love it. We are due in November and have Phillipa (Pippa), Penelope (Poppie) and Isabelle as our top girl names .

ShadowPuppets · 19/06/2022 13:17

I love the name Pippa but didn’t use it, mainly because of the fact that paired with our surname it sounds ridiculous 😂but also I know it’s rude slang in Italian!

Princessoftheuniverse · 19/06/2022 13:15

I liked Phillipa when thinking of names for a girl. Rejected it because I didn't like Pippa and that was obviously going to happen. Nothing wrong with Pippa it's just personal taste but I wouldn't name my child a derivative.

I know a 3 year old Pippa and that’s literally never occurred to me.

I’m not a huge fan but it’s pretty inoffensive - if you like it, go for it!

I love it. I used to hate the shortened name as I full name trend but I don’t any more.

Imissmoominmama · 19/06/2022 13:07

Hanger on associations??

Somethingyesterday · 19/06/2022 13:03

No. Dreadfully twee. (And ‘hanger on’ associations.)

Philippa is clunky but is at least a proper name.

NoWayHome · 19/06/2022 12:40

I like it, I've met two who are adults now and they suit it

Imissmoominmama · 19/06/2022 12:40

Yes!!
