I mean real names not La-A and Lemonjello or Chlamydia or other urban legends.

A friend in the U.S has called her baby son, Sundance. I rather like it in a way though I was taken aback at first.

I met a McLaren recently too, not as unusual as Sundance but not something that you encounter every day either.

I absolutely love Faraday much to my surprise.

VonTrippTrapp · 16/06/2022 17:22

The Athelstan I know has a really common middle name, so he can use that when he's older! It's an old school friend who has an Athelstan and her other dc names are equally fantastic 😄

Acer

itssquidstella · 16/06/2022 17:19

@VonTrippTrapp I wanted to give DS the middle name Athelstan but chickened out.

FilterWash · 16/06/2022 17:18

I quite like Sundance and Lyric. Athelstan is just very, very old school.

Mclaren just sounds like either a family surname or a family weirdly obsessed with formula 1

Bobbeigh

Brilliantly uneeq in a non-unique way.

Not a baby name but I know an Aqua. It really suits her

BrylcreamBeret · 16/06/2022 16:59

Cardiff, I do think it's unusual and I'd never have considered it as a name but it suits the person nicely.

ChickinMarango · 16/06/2022 16:57

I have an Odin in my circle of friends.

WashableVelvet · 16/06/2022 16:54

Lyric and Faraday are both gorgeous!

Sherlock and Athelstan

Oh wow, I love Athleston!

Clarence

Herejustforthisone · 16/06/2022 16:50

Two brothers called Loki Thor <Surname> and Banner Bruce <Surname>. I had to just force myself to hear the names as noises as the association was too great.

Dolares · 16/06/2022 16:50

There's a girl called Lyric at my DDs nursery.

VonTrippTrapp · 16/06/2022 16:46

Parsley - didn't see if it was a boy or a girl.

We knew a Parsley, a lovely little girl who looked exactly like Parsley the lion. I never knew if she had also looked like him as a baby or if it was nominative determinism.

Isonthecase · 16/06/2022 16:45

@GeorgiaMcGraw I think they were, definitely looked like the same family but may have been cousins. Imagine the family reactions when names were announced 😂

JennyForeigner · 16/06/2022 16:43

Lando, after the racing driver.

Or Faraday for a girl - loved that.

MachineBee · 16/06/2022 16:29

Friend of mine called son Duke. It does suit him now he’s older.

BorisJohnsonsvomitbucket · 16/06/2022 16:27

Indigo. Rare in my part of the world, possibly not in others.

There is a Hood in my daughter's class. 4 years old though, not a recent baby.

Boss (son of a colleague)
Flower (female toddler living locally)

Els1e · 16/06/2022 16:24

Cosmic for a baby boy. Not sure about it myself but each to their own. Probably because my neighbour’s cat is called Cosmic, I keep thinking of the cat.
