Libmama · 14/06/2022 20:26

We don’t know the gender yet but I’m really struggling.
This is baby number 3. DP is useless and just suggests names like Jeff and Maureen then vetos all my suggestions saying they are ‘chavvy!’

The boys names I like are
Asa
Otis
Jude
Rex
Indy

and the ONLY girls name I like is
Indi/Indie

I quite like Lois too but not sure it’s goes with DS1&2’s names.

They are Isaac and Leo.

Please help me 🙏

I like all your boys names and think they'd all go. I don't really like the name Indi for a boy or girl, there's quite a few at my son's school, I think it's more popular than people think. I really love the name Lois and that would go well with your other names.

Robinni · 16/06/2022 14:09

Jude all the way.

I think I like Indi for a girl, but being short for a longer name.

sixthformdropout · 16/06/2022 00:41

I think Lois definitely goes with Isaac and Leo if you really like it. I’m sorry but I also don’t like Indie. It’s cute for a baby but hard to pull off for an adult.

Jude is a lovely name. I don’t know why but I always think of Jude as a kind, gentle sort of name.

Non-frilly name suggestions:
Hedda
Leonie
Nell
Francesca nn Fran/ Frankie
Morgan (gender neutral so could work for either but I think it’s nice on a girl).
Erin
Rhea
Nadine

Random boys names
Jake
Seth
Theo
Kai
Rocco
Jed
Albert (nn Albie)

I like indie!! Also love Riley and frankie

I have a Leo. My other DS is Caspar. My DD ( baby number 3) was named by my husband so not my choice, but I would have called her Felicity.

Not necessarily but I am also not a girly girl at all so the odds of it being a pink princess aren’t really in its favour 😄

To be honest, in my experience, children often turn out to be the opposite to their parents.

Libmama · 15/06/2022 17:38

Yes like Lois Lane!

Thank you, this is where we were going with Indie/y/i as in ‘independent’ as opposed to India/Indiana/Indigo.

I still think it’s my favourite name for a girl but there’s time to find a new favourite yet.

How is Lois pronouced? Like Lois Lane? I like it.

Really not a fan of Rex. The rest seem ok.

Tom-boy names, Danielle - Danny, I went to school with one always called Danny but I have not had dealings with her in a professional capacity and she signs her emails off as Danielle.

Hadtocomment · 15/06/2022 11:30

If you love Indie or Indy why not use that? It's a nice sound and far nicer than Lois (in my opinion). Mumsnet tends to have a particular sort of taste in names. Unfortunately along the lines of the (several) names my parents gave me! i hated them all as a kid. Pleasing mumsnet is not going to necessarily please your child or your teen or a future adult.

We all have different associations with things. I realise a lot of my fondness for certain names comes from having read a character that was that name as a child and things like that.

Indy/Indi/Indie has associations with the word independent - like Indy cinema. Which I think is a nice idea for a DD, rather than jewels and flowers or the super frilly names that are popular at the moment. Trust your gut OP and don't listen to Mumsnet too much as there was another thread where someone was saying they were egged on to chose a name they no longer like at all.

Tryagain2020 · 15/06/2022 08:37

I like Jeff!

If you like Clio, what about Chloe?

Joel / Joely?

Cloud16 · 15/06/2022 08:30

Otis is lovely. Do brothers equal tomboy? My best friend has 4 and loves all things stereotypically girly.

Also I like Indie OP. Do you like India?

TitilatedOcelot · 15/06/2022 08:27

If you like Jude, would Judy would for a girl?

TitilatedOcelot · 15/06/2022 08:24

How about Lucinda / Cindy, or Melinda / Mindy?

Ok I get no one is keen on Indie.

Problem is I work in a school so I associate names with children so it needs to be something that’s not in the top 100 as I’ve probably had one in my class at some point!

Jude seems to be the favourite boys name and seeing as I only seem to make boys that’s probably going to be the go to option.

Any more girls names I might like? I’m not a fan of frilly girly names like Isabelle and Daisy. It will more than likely be a tomboy so needs to be something that works well with that and I do quite like nicknamey names.

I've mentioned it before on Cleo threads the name Clea or Cleia. Which might go better with Leo. Robyn?

MissyB1 · 14/06/2022 22:33

Isaac Leo and Jude - good combo 👍

Indie - hmmm no sorry!

Luredbyapomegranate · 14/06/2022 22:23

Lois is great, and goes nicely with Issac and Leo.

Asa, Jude and Otis are also all nice - Jude probably works best in combination

Indy/Indie - no. Your husband is right, same for Rex

Ines, Jocelyn, Sylvie, Stella, Robin, Hope, Rose, Caitlin, Zara, Xanthe, Zoe, Elsa, might be other options for girls
