Aurelia makes me think of oral or areola. Merryn makes me think of hobbits.

I think both are lovely but I'd lean to Aurelia. Mostly because I'm not keen on Mer or Merry as nicknames and I think Aurelia May flows a touch better than Merryn May.

Mumsnet is a forum, where people.. discuss things? They get opinions on clothes in style and beauty, school in education, what to do about the verruca in spooner corner, and yes, baby names in baby names.

It’s a totally normal thing to do. Anyone sensible knows it’s easy to get a thing about a name without considering it from all angles - here you get to test out your names on a bunch of people with no skin in the game, so you do not have to involve your friends and loved ones.

Merryn - it’s great

Aurelia has a Disney vibe these days, sadly.

May is the standard middle name along with Rose and Grace. This might not both you but otherwise Margaret, Mary, Madeleine, Hope, Faith, Anne

I think it depends on your surname ... I can't remember the last time I saw my first and middle names written or said together but first and last are regularly used x

I have never known how to pronounce Aurelia and I still don't with so many different suggestions for pronunciation in this thread alone. I couldn't stand the faffage of that - so Merryn from me.

Love Merryn, was on our list (spelt Merrin).

I know a toddler Aurelia - when she was born it was the first time I'd heard the name. It looks pretty but I find it a bit of a mouthful, too frilly for me. But it works as a middle name.

Aurelia is a bit too close to Amelia, of which is really common at the moment.

I prefer Merryn but it makes me think Mirin (you know, the sweet stuff on sushi rice?) and it sounds a bit off with May.

Any chance of us voting on the options you've already cut?😁
