Picking a non gender name

Me and my SO are so excited. I just want to be a mum right now! Lol. Baby is due in Feb and we don't want to know the gender before their born. Do you think I'll regret picking a name that could be for a boy or girl? Like when my baby comes do you think I might want it to have a name that feels more girly or manly and it will make the experience not as amazing as it could be?

We really like the name Casey as it can be for a boy or girl but we live in Accrington in the UK and I worry that people will judge us because it sounds American, but I really like the name.

What do you all think? 🤔

I have 2 boys
Tyler & Jesse. Both can be boy or girl names but the female spelling would probably be Jessie if he had been a girl.

Possibility Tyler could be, but it sounds like a boys' name to be.

I know 2 Caseys, both boys and 1 man Casey. One of the young Caseys has a sister with a unisex name and I often get them mixed up.

I think of it as more of a girl's name.

Keep Casey in your head and then when baby comes, if it doesn't feel right, change it. Don't have a ton of stuff printed with their name on, don't tell lots of people and then it's easy enough to change your mind.

I like shortenings that are unisex more than whole names, just because there are not many truly ambiguous ones and people tend to have assumptions anyway, like I would assume Casey was a girl until I met an obviously male Casey.
So its easier with full names that are gendered that are shortened neutrally, like
Alex
Ash
Ro
Addie
Lex
Sam/sammy
JJ
Tig

None of them are even vaguely American.

Personally I imagine Casey to be a girl just because I’ve never seen a boy with that name. I think aswell any unisex name that ends in “y” always sound more on the feminine side like Ashley, Riley etc.

My dd is 15 and has three people in her friendship group of nine or ten called Casey.
