Would you assume someone with the name Natasha was born in December?

It means “Christmas Day”and i have a daughter due in October but im concerned it’s not sound right on someone not born near Christmas. I just think this name is very classy and pretty and isn’t really heard of nowadays. Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HunterHearstHelmsley · 07/06/2022 19:33

Nope.

The only names I'd assume were December babies (off the top of my head) are Holly and Ivy.

MarmiteCoriander · 07/06/2022 19:32

No- I never knew of the connection with Dec either.

A friend has a Noelle who was born in March!

littleblackdress26 · 07/06/2022 19:29

I'm a natasha and I'm born in November
Nobody has ever made that link regarding Xmas despite me knowing it.
However I have been asked many a time if I am Russian and do I know that it is a Russian name .

BeenToldComputerSaysNo · 07/06/2022 19:27

I had no idea!

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads , 'Natasha means “beautiful” in Arabic though.'

I doubt it

Actually, I’m wrong.
I was quoting my dad’s Egyptian colleague!

I have two December babies. I never knew Natasha meant Christmas.

My mother in law wanted mine to be called Carol and Holly. They were born on Christmas Eve so you can also guess that name came into the mix too...

No, they're not anything Christmas or December related!

Mariposista · 07/06/2022 19:10

It's a lovely name, whatever time of year the girl is born. I don't know why, it always reminds me of squirrels - absolutely no idea why I make this connection, maybe I once read a children's book with a Natasha squirrel in it hahahaha

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/06/2022 18:46

Natasha means “beautiful” in Arabic though.

I understand the “lords birthday” meaning, but it’s not an overtly Christmassy name. I mostly think “Easreen European” or “XXX’s mum”.

TambourineOfRepentance · 07/06/2022 18:46

No. I'm a Natalie and it's only due to this thread that I've found out that means "birthday of the lord/Christmas". I don't think it's a common association (possibly it is and I'm just being a bit thick). I'm born in summer, for what it's worth.

ohmygloshes · 07/06/2022 18:45

No

TheBiscuitEater · 07/06/2022 18:43

My cousin is a Natasha, born in May! Most won't have heard of that, I certainly hadn't. Even if they have, they wont think much of a Tash not being born in Dec....

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/06/2022 18:42

I always think of Natasha as someone in glamourous furs and living in a cold city .Not Christmas .

My DD is called Holly , born in June !
I would never have landed her with this name if she was December .

Cuddlywaterfall · 07/06/2022 18:42

Nope. My sister is Natalie and her bday is august. I know the meaning is Christmas-y but it's not what I think of when I hear Natasha/Natalie

JuneJubilee · 07/06/2022 18:41

i know of the connection, but I don't think it matters. None of the Natalie /Natalia/Natasha's I know are December babies!!

K2K · 07/06/2022 18:40

KirstenBlest · 07/06/2022 18:04

No, but would assume Natalia was.

This thread has blown my tiny mind. And the only Natalia I know was born mid June.

Withacherryonthetop · 07/06/2022 18:39

It’s my name and I’m born in May. I don’t think it matters at all. Delighted to hear of babies potentially being called it as I thought it was a bit dated!

wheresmyshoe · 07/06/2022 18:38

No, my friend is a Natasha and Jewish.

Moosake · 07/06/2022 18:36

No

12Thorns · 07/06/2022 18:35

Yes I would assume a Christmas baby, as that is what it means

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 07/06/2022 18:35

Go for it for your October baby! It's a lovely name, and I'm another who never knew it was a Christmas name.

VariationsonaTheme · 07/06/2022 18:34

No, wouldn’t cross my mind (my immediate link would be to Marvel movies!)

User6761 · 07/06/2022 18:32

I had no idea that was that meaning.

I would associate Noelle with Christmas, and to a lesser extent Holly.

SycamoreTall · 07/06/2022 18:24

No, not at all.

It really just means "birthday" in Latin (well, dies natalia does, and so Natalia does, and Natasha is another version of it). Traditionally referring to Jesus's birthday. But everyone had a birthday after all. 😁

BeyondMyWits · 07/06/2022 18:15

Nope, would not think of Christmas, makes me think of Eastern Europe, but only because the 2 Natashas I know are from there (both born in September)
