Would you assume someone with the name Natasha was born in December?

It means “Christmas Day”and i have a daughter due in October but im concerned it’s not sound right on someone not born near Christmas. I just think this name is very classy and pretty and isn’t really heard of nowadays. Thoughts?

Not even remotely...

Dalekjastninerels · 10/06/2022 08:27

No I wouldn't and it's a pretty name.

motogirl · 10/06/2022 08:26

My cousin is Natalie - she's not a December birthday either. Don't worry

motogirl · 10/06/2022 08:24

No, I know 2 Natasha's neither born in December

thedogshatonthematt · 10/06/2022 08:23

It’s just a name, if you like it, use it 🤷‍♀️

soulinablackberrypie · 10/06/2022 08:20

No. I do know the meaning of the name and understand the reasoning, but I think it is used all the year round in the UK and very few people would make the connection. As a nation we don't seem to be all that well informed about the meanings of names - obviously we all are, the people who are interested enough in names to go on a talkboard to discuss them, but I've lost count of the people I've met who don't even know the meaning of their own names. I would no more expect a Natasha to be born around Christmas time nowadays than I would expect a Thomas to be a twin.

RenegadeMatron · 07/06/2022 23:25

I really wouldn’t worry about it, OP.

People are called Claudia, very few of them are actually lame.

My name means ‘devoted to God’. Believe me, I am not.

onlythreenow · 07/06/2022 23:21

It would never occur to me to think that.

HerRoyalNotness · 07/06/2022 23:18

Nope, I’m a March baby.

millerpie · 07/06/2022 23:09

Nope, not even remotely.

Kite22 · 07/06/2022 23:07

No. Never heard that before.

Holly, Ivy, Carol, Noelle - yes.

blameitonthecaffeine · 07/06/2022 22:56

No, not at all. I wouldn't even assume it about a Natalie. Both names are too common (though not currently) and the Christmas link not widely enough known for it to be an assumption, imo.

My eldest, now adult, daughter is a Natasha. She was born in July.

resm · 07/06/2022 21:42

And I’m born on Christmas Day.

resm · 07/06/2022 21:42

Have known a few Natasha/Tashas over the years and only know one of their birthdays which was May. Didn’t seem out of place at all.

LaLaLouella · 07/06/2022 21:30

Nope - I had no idea...

I do expect Hollys to be born in December, but they rarely seem to be!

Luredbyapomegranate · 07/06/2022 21:12

No.. now you mention it it feels winter-y, but I think that’s because it’s Russian 🪆 It was somewhat popular in the 70s and that’s what I’d associate it with. I also quite like the full version Natalia.

Princessoftheuniverse · 07/06/2022 19:53

I’d no idea about the Christmas connection. I only know of one and she’s about fourteen now.

SquirrelFan · 07/06/2022 19:53

@Mariposista because Boris and Natasha always 'made big trouble for moose and squirrel'" (use terrible Russian accent) in the old Rocky and Bullwinkle animated TV show. There was a film, too.

easyday · 07/06/2022 19:51

I know a Natalie and she's Jewish. I know a Holly and she has a Spring birthday.
I wouldn't cross my mind Natasha being associated with Christmas.

RuthW · 07/06/2022 19:51

No

MadMadMadamMim · 07/06/2022 19:50

No. I was slightly stunned to discover that my friend June's birthday is November, but I didn't know Natasha was related to Christmas.

LovelyDaaling · 07/06/2022 19:48

Call the baby the name you want. Are all Hollys born in December? I doubt it and, really, who cares?

NataleDomini · 07/06/2022 19:43

I'm a Natalie, I've always known by name birth of the Lord but wasn't a December baby. Never bothered me. Natasha is a lovely name!

BobbinHood · 07/06/2022 19:39

No, and I’ve never heard this before. I know two Natashas, born in January and April!

17caterpillars1mouse · 07/06/2022 19:38

No not at all. I know Its a name loosely associated with Christmas but I wouldn't think twice about a non December baby being called Natasha.

I know you didn't ask, but I think it's a beautiful, underused name and think you should go for it. I went to school with a Natasha (early 30s) now and she is the only one I've ever met. I would absolutely consider it if I were to have a third daughter
