Which do you prefer of Max or Felix and why?

Any associations you have with either name?

Thanks!

I didn't realise this was an old thread - congrats on Max -

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/11/2022 15:31

Max

Felix too feline for me

sunshinefordays · 26/11/2022 15:54

@soulinablackberrypie - we chose Max! He was born in October.

We happen to be a sporty family so that encourages me!

We also love dogs 😂

Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts!

I know one little Felix and in every baby class there's st least 1 or 2 Max's. I prefer Felix

soulinablackberrypie · 28/10/2022 11:51

I don't really love either of them, but they are both perfectly sensible, inoffensive names, and I think I slightly prefer Felix.

Max sounds to me like a name for an active, sporty boy (or something like a secret agent). I'd expect a Felix to be a bit more sensitive and maybe creative.

stripyspider · 28/10/2022 10:30

I really, really like the name Max :)

namechanged221 · 26/10/2022 21:51

Maxi

CambsAlways · 26/10/2022 21:48

Max , felix sounds like a cartoon cat

The comments here are silly

In your opinion Smile

As this thread shows many people associate Felix with cats and cat food!

Interesting how you didn't also quote that many people on here posted how they associate the name Max with a dog! You can even google 'max' and it comes up with dog movies to watch.

All I am saying it despite opinions I think it's sad/silly that in society we don't use names because of brands/tv shows/books etc and Felix isn't even the most popular cat food brand xD cat food I mostly see in stores is Whiskas, Purina or Hills! it's so over the top. Especially when it's been a name since the Roman times! (47 saints named Felix that's old it is) I guess the same people can't use the name "Ben" because of the popular "Uncle Ben's Rice" or Thomas because of "Thomas the tank engine"

Titsflyingsouth · 24/10/2022 19:06

I like Felix... tons of boys names around here.

caringcarer · 24/10/2022 00:31

I thought you wanted help naming a cat.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 24/10/2022 00:28

Long before the Felix cat food brand there was Felix the cartoon cat. I think they still make Felix merch today. So the Felix=cat connections are strong and it's pointless arguing against them. Use the name by all means, it's a nice name, but accept that for some people it will always provoke feline thoughts.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 24/10/2022 00:22

Love Maximilian & also Maxwell.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 24/10/2022 00:15

Felix is a cat.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 23/10/2022 15:10

the person who rebooted this thread clearly has a kid called Felix...

nelliebear8 · 23/10/2022 10:17

Love both, but prefer Felix. Like ppl have said, cat names, but who cares?

Lilacsunflowers · 23/10/2022 10:17

Felix is a very well known cat food brand in UK Supermarkets. Like Whiskas!

Max is overused imo and is starting to feel dated.

xxFloraxx · 23/10/2022 09:34

The comments here are silly, especially when Max is a way more common name for a dog than Felix is for a cat. Max is number 3 in popularity for dog names! just like the name Bella is now a popular dogs name... that doesn't mean we suddenly can't use it lol

Also I had a cat and fed it Whiska's brand (which is a far more popular cat food brand) and still never made the connection of Felix with a cat.. The name Felix has been since used in even big films like Disney's 'Enchanto' Harry Potter, twilight, once upon a time and famous books like Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein', literally a Roman nick name that literally meant 'good luck' good fortune' 'happiness' the name Felix is in the bible that's how old it is, it has been around way before the brand.

I just think names shouldn't die because of a brand/tv show/celebrity Max and Felix were names before, they can still be names lol people are just really harsh on this website and get a kick out of trashing kids names (except their own!). We still name our kids 'Thomas' despite the famous 'Thomas the Tank Engine' association.

Cheeseandpineappleonastick · 23/10/2022 08:54

Much prefer Max. I know that others disagree with me as felix is very popular but I just can't get over the cat food thing.

biddybid73 · 23/10/2022 06:20

I love both! Our DS is Felix!

Lenzrose · 23/10/2022 06:01

I would prefer Felix.

Lenzrose · 23/10/2022 06:00

I would prefer Felix.

34and3 · 23/10/2022 05:55

Just because people are too polite to make cat comments I'm afraid they're probably still thinking it.

Go with Max!

Lol just realised I have already commented on this months ago 😅 I thought it was a new thread, haha!

I was about to do the same! 😅

I still do love both though. I forgot to mention Felix was a very close second choice for DS. Sadly it was vetoed by DH in favour of Leo.
