Pros and cons? Is one harder to spell? Is it harder for a Catherine to be Katie? What about Katharine or Katherine or Cathryn even?

I love this name, I really think it's beautiful. My preference is Katherine.

ancientgran · 04/06/2022 08:44

I like Catherine. Don't know why, just do.

greenbirdsong · 04/06/2022 08:32

I would go with Katherine or Catherine.

The Duchess of Cambridge is a Catherine with a C and known as Kate.

SecondBestBed · 04/06/2022 08:29

How are they pronounced the same? One has three syllables, the other has two.

Honeyroar · 03/06/2022 22:34

I like Catherine personally. I don’t like Kathryn. Weird really as they’re pronounced the same!

Shortbreadselection · 03/06/2022 22:28

We decided for our dd that we would spell it the same as Katharine Hepburn.

JeansAndJumper · 03/06/2022 22:27

Against not again, sorry.

JeansAndJumper · 03/06/2022 22:26

Got to go again@PrincessesRUs her (sorry!) but I'm a Katharine and my DM always said when she was choosing the spelling she went with the rule K with 2 a's C with 2 e's. But I also think the non traditional spellings with y look pretty.

PrincessesRUs · 03/06/2022 22:19

I think it's the most obvious spelling, once I've confirmed it's with a K everyone knows how to spell it!!

PrincessesRUs · 03/06/2022 22:19

I'm biased - I'm Katherine - obviously think it's by far the best!!
