It may come from Celtic Caradoc, meaning 'beloved'. Ivanhoe and Harry Potter character.
I think it should be used more.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh noooo

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2022 18:14

Sounds like someone who wears corduroy trousers and a tweed jacket.

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 02/06/2022 18:13

Not in the north, in places where names are shortened and ‘our’ prefixed. 😁

Really cute. I also like Edmund which I think has the same kind of vibe.

Edmund the traitor. Confused

I like it pronounced with a hard c, so like ked-rik I know someone with a Welsh mother who has this name).

Pronounced sed-rik I find it a bit wussy, like Cyril.

Soulstirring · 02/06/2022 17:51

Stop it

Mosmuma · 02/06/2022 17:39

Cedric the entertainer / Cedric the dragon

Irishfarmer · 02/06/2022 15:07

I like it, but I do immediately think of Cedric Diggory

WeasilyPleased · 02/06/2022 13:26

I quite like it. Ced is cool.

IStandWithMaya · 02/06/2022 09:32

I love it. I know two! But neither are babies.

Ikeameatballs · 02/06/2022 08:16

I like it.

MumNBass · 02/06/2022 08:12

No to Cedric. It just sounds pompous and pretentious to me- though everyone's name associations are very individual.

Mumofgirls2017 · 02/06/2022 07:38

I like it. He’s a good character in HP right?

ProclivityForPyrotechnics · 02/06/2022 02:56

Diggory

itssquidstella · 02/06/2022 02:05

I love it!

MardiGraze · 02/06/2022 01:42

Pronounced said-rick or seed-rick?

I don't like names where there are two pronunciations unless I'm equally in love with both.

britneyisfree · 02/06/2022 01:40

Fritilleries · 01/06/2022 08:47

Absolutely not. I mean, for starters he died in the Goblet of Fire.

This

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/06/2022 01:34

Quite like it. Fits with names like Ernest and Louis which are v popular

caringcarer · 01/06/2022 14:36

Awful name.

UpToMyElbowsInDiapers · 01/06/2022 13:35

I seriously considered it for my DS! Love the name, but it didn’t work with our family name.

Kanaloa · 01/06/2022 13:32

Makes me think of Cedric Diggory then Ivanhoe. It’s not terrible but not lovely if that makes sense. Like I wouldn’t think what an awful name, poor little kid. But I also wouldn’t think oh how lovely what a gorgeous name. I do think there’s something a bit wet about it.

Jellifer · 01/06/2022 13:23

Cedric Sneer from the Raccoons!

SwedishEdith · 01/06/2022 13:13

Isn't that Dominic Cummings's son's name? Ced, so presume Cedric?

fantasmasgoria1 · 01/06/2022 13:07

I kkow its not right but the name cedric may get made fun of. I agree with posters who have said it sounds wet.
