It may come from Celtic Caradoc, meaning 'beloved'. Ivanhoe and Harry Potter character.
I think it should be used more.

I don't hate Cedric as a collection of sounds, but I think it would be difficult to live with as it still has a bit of an old-fashioned/slightly poncey reputation. Maybe one to let a few rock stars use first so it becomes hip.

I also wouldn't fancy a Percy, a Rupert, a Keith, or a Terry. Or a Nigel. Definitely never shagging a Nigel.

I don't much like the name Nigel but I have fancied a Nigel and might possibly have shagged him if he had offered. My all-time least favourite boys' name is Wayne, but probably partly because of a little boy I knew as a kid, whose behaviour made me permanently associate "Wayne" with "whine!"

Lots of women are thankfully less narrow minded and very happily married!

To be fair if he's VERY hot I might overlook it Grin

Blue2022 · 13/06/2022 20:36

I just read it back and still don't think I was irrate. Genuinely, I'm surprised. I mean it lightheartedly. He didn't pick it. If a guy is hot, he's hot☺️ I didn't mean to sound angry.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 13/06/2022 20:31

well you did get a bit irate at my comment...

Blue2022 · 13/06/2022 20:29

@StrychnineInTheSandwiches did I say you weren't? It's the same both ways😏

Beachsidesunset · 13/06/2022 19:23

Farting boxer dog in James Herriot - sorry!

Finding out a hot guy was called Cedric would be a bit of a passion killer for me tbh.

Thankfully we're all different because I'd have no issues at all with a hot guy called Cedric. In fact I'd find it quite cool!

I agree! What on earth does his name matter. It's just what his mum and dad chose..

DemBonesDemBones · 13/06/2022 17:54

It's completely, completely awful.

ChnandlerBong · 13/06/2022 15:34

not keen.

it's actually a made up name based on the original CERDIC which is even worse....

I love Cedric!

Very cool and much more memorable and interesting than lots of common top 10 names.

Not in the north, in places where names are shortened and ‘our’ prefixed. 😁

😂😂😂😂😂

bloominglovelyorange · 02/06/2022 22:13

Love it

FlamingoDust · 02/06/2022 19:50

Love it! It was on my list but I had girls

Madamecastafiore · 02/06/2022 19:00

Very cool and different. Better than all the Archie and Alfies. Percy is quite cool too. I used to work with a v v posh Cedric. Lived on Sloane Squats and his father was a lord. He was a total hotty.

SpaceJamtart · 02/06/2022 18:23

I knew one and he has a speech impediment so it came out Shedric, its a weird dusty name like Edmund or Barnabus

timoteigirl · 02/06/2022 18:22

Yes shoudl be used more often. To me in a similar category as Tristan.
