How many Islas do you know?

I'm 37 weeks and Isla was a name for the baby suggested by my 5 year old DS. My husband loves it and I like it too but I'm concerned about it's popularity. I don't actually know any little Islas myself (and have lots of friends with babies and small children). How many babies called Isla do you know and how old are they?

I know 2 under 18 months - I always think it’s the name I hear the most in the park etc !

emmathedilemma · 08/06/2022 15:11

SabrePrattler · 08/06/2022 12:36

Loads. I think it might be this generation's version of Sandra.

FredinBread · 08/06/2022 04:22

Primary teacher in South East for 11 years only taught 3 I think

CharlieBoo · 07/06/2022 22:34

None

Glitterheart · 03/06/2022 00:42

My 7 year old is an Isla, she is the only one in her school (SE).
it’s a beautiful name, if you like it don’t let its popularity put you off!

Nothingiseverything · 03/06/2022 00:41

None but i know a girl I went to school with named her daughter Isla. I think it is a lovely name.

HorribleHerstory · 03/06/2022 00:27

sunshineandshowers40 · 03/06/2022 00:12

SE, I know 5 all under 13.

Louise0701 · 02/06/2022 22:35

Yorkshire. I know 8 under the age of 11.

TheWayoftheLeaf · 02/06/2022 22:33

I know of two under 4. But only because they're the kids of FB friends.

Fearitcatches · 02/06/2022 22:32

3 Isla’s - A 10, 9 and 4 year old.

TempsPerdu · 02/06/2022 22:29

I’m in a London suburb. I know 3 or 4 Islas from various toddler/preschool classes and there will be at least two starting in DD’s Reception intake of 60 this September.

It’s a pretty name, but along with Ava and Aria/Arya it’s probably the name I’m most tired of hearing right now.

hullabaloney · 02/06/2022 22:12

I know absolutely shitloads. But it's not as bad as Isabelle, so that's a bonus.

bloominglovelyorange · 02/06/2022 22:11

I'm NW
I don't know any under age 5 (and only 1 or possibly 2 over age of 5), which matches up with the official statistics , the numbers of Isla's have been falling every year consistently since 2013 (as you'll have seen from Dark greener website @loulou2021 )
it's a beautiful name ! I'd stick with it.

Leelaseye · 02/06/2022 21:28

I know 4 ranging from 2 days old to 11. I'm in Greater London. Super popular but with good reason - it's a lovely name.

  1. Honestly.

So popular.

fluffyducky21 · 02/06/2022 09:27

I know 3 under the age of 6 and one in their 70s

SD1978 · 02/06/2022 00:41

I'm in Australia- frigging loads. It's the top name here now. Mine (10) is 'unusual' for having this name at her age (here) now it's common as muck. Do wish id stuck with Isobel instead 😆 also it's popular to spell it iyla here which also drives me nuts.

Therira · 02/06/2022 00:31

Lots. But I'm Scotland. It's a beautiful name. I have a super common name with 6 others in my year with the same name but I love it.
