Baby Girl nature names

Hi! First time poster here...

We are due our second baby girl in 6 weeks and still have't decided on a name!

My husband is a tree surgeon and we are very nature/outdoorsy type people. We already have a little girl called Lily and dog called Willow, so we're trying to decide on a name which suits our family. Surname is also Kirkwood.

Here are the names we like:

  • Fern/Fearn - there were lots of wildflowers/foliage at our wedding so thought this might be a nice tie to that. Also like that it's not too common.
  • Robyn - we get lots of birds in our garden and think it flows well with Kirkwood.
  • Summer - we married in Summer/she's due in Summer.
  • Paige - not nature themed, we just like this one.
  • Adeline - again, not in with the theme but one of our daughter's friend's is called Adeline and we think it's very pretty so did't rule it out.
What are people's thought's? We don't want something too common (bit gutted Lily became so popular after we chose it!) but husband is against anything too unusual. Any opinions would be great!

Thank you :)

I don't think Fern sounds good with your surname. Summer is my fav.

elfran · 24/05/2022 11:56

Agreed re: Juniper Kirkwood. Total swoon of a name. ❤️

I find Lily and Fern a bit matchy and bordering on twee for sisters.

Robyn I love, and Summer as well.

meadowbleu · 24/05/2022 11:54

How about Brooke?

MallampatiCatty · 24/05/2022 11:48

Juniper was the first name that sprung to mind!

Sev100 · 24/05/2022 11:41

Paige Kirkwood is lovely! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Seaweasel · 24/05/2022 06:11

I want to be called Juniper Kirkwood. My life would have been way better if that had been my name. Curse my unimaginative parents!😁

FlamingGoat · 24/05/2022 06:03

My friend has two daughters called Jonquil and Fushia. Absolutely love the names.

Aria999 · 24/05/2022 02:25

OP it might not be a concern for you but you have put some pretty identifying information on here (your daughter full name and school).

BTW love Ferne

rainsunsnow · 24/05/2022 00:19

I quite like Meadow.

Luredbyapomegranate · 24/05/2022 00:12

Robin I love, but spelt like that

Adeline is v nice, although I think Adela even nicer

Fern is nice enough

Summer and Paige are the c word (you said it..), so I wouldn't.

Ffion, Stella, Seren, Astrid, Astra, Aster, Violet, Jasmine, Laurel, Daphne, Iris, Aislinn

SupetArt · 23/05/2022 13:13

My cousin is called Deryn think that means black bird

SupetArt · 23/05/2022 13:12

Elowen means Elm Tree
Derwa is oak tree
Sylvie is nice I think

LowryLowry · 19/05/2022 22:27

Fern is gorgeous. Robin is quite nice, but not with a 'y'. Rowan is lovely for a girl. Have you thought of Sylvia / Sylvie? It means 'from the forest', I think. Erica is also lovely, means heather. Ffion is pretty - Welsh for foxglove, or Seren, Welsh for star.

Peppapig7262662 · 19/05/2022 20:39

I'd say Summer is very 'chavvy'

Fern is lovely.

mamawood · 19/05/2022 20:35

Loving all the suggestions, thank you!

Our daughter's primary school (where DD2 will also go) is called Hazlewood, so as much as I love the name Hazel Kirkwood , she might get a bit of stick at school.

Looks like Fern & Summer could be top runners. Was worried Summer might have been a bit chavvy but then again, after DD1 was born we heard a few chavvy Lily's!

Perhaps Sage instead of Paige? Nothing wrong with Paige, but Sage has a clear nature link.

Someone already mentioned it above, but I really like Briony/Bryony as a not-too-common nature name.

Ellmau · 19/05/2022 20:19

Amaryllis?

runnerblade95 · 19/05/2022 20:15

I love the name Autumn. Watched a movie recently where the lead character’s name was Rain. I thought it was quite an unusual but lovely name.

Fanofcrisps · 19/05/2022 20:12

I like Dawn, Fern, Hazel and Heather the best.

lisavanderpumpscloset · 19/05/2022 20:11

Summer?

MissPocket · 19/05/2022 20:07

My favourite is Summer.

jammyrose · 19/05/2022 19:35

Echoing PP’s suggestion, Hazel Kirkwood is beautiful.

Fern is nice, I prefer the spelling Fern to Fearne.

I also love River, personally, but I’m aware it’s not popular on here!
