Unusual but not wacky boys names

Boysnamesareharrd · 18/05/2022 13:43

I'm pregnant with my second and really struggling for boys names. Our first child has a more unusual name, along the lines of Otis, Rowan, Archer etc.
I need a similar idea for child two, starting with c or a would be ideal. Easily shortened to one syllable. A bit more unusual because DH is a teacher so wants a special name, not one he associates with other children.
Does such a name exist? Please help!

Also think Colin is a very underrated name.

Calvin?

I had a fondness for the Calvin & Hobbes when pg with DS1 so this was on the shortlist. Still sometimes wish we'd gone with it. He'd definitely be the only one at school... though having said that he was at primary school with a Cal for a while – not short for anything, just Cal.

Campbell
Corin, or the more Scottish spelling of Corran?

Isonthecase · 18/05/2022 19:36

I also really like Oisin and Ivor.

Isonthecase · 18/05/2022 19:35

If you like Christian what about Tristan? Sounds similar and old English.

Veralil · 18/05/2022 19:30

Aubrey, shortened to Aub.

Abzs · 18/05/2022 19:27

Andrew and Christopher. Only one of each in our primary school (out of 330). We're in Scotland though so more than one of Angus, Callan, Callum, Cameron, C/Killian, etc.

I've stuck to Welsh and Cornish names above but there's lots of lovely Irish and Scottish boys names too. I'm partial to Alistair.
