I would forget about Effie, sounds odd and opens her up to lots of nasty nicknames as a teenager.

I know an Eadie, that spelling might help with Eddie confusion. If my child had been a girl I was going to call her Elfie.

I love Edie. Not keen on Ada. Effie is OK. But makes me thing of effing or eff-you, so not quite as stylish as Edie.

I already have an Etta and love that it's not short for anything, just Etta!

I love Edie, short for Edith, dh isn't keen so it's been rejected! They are all cute though Effie does seem like a shortened version of another name to me.

Ada. The other two are nicknames and Ada is a stronger name.

I would say Ada as well, although it sounds a bit nicknamey to me.

Edie and Effie sound incredibly nicknamey. Effie I believe would be short for Euphemia. Edie I think is generally short for Eden or Edith, although it is a growing trend to be a name in its own right.

I agree there is a lot of confusion with Eddie.

Ada all day long.
We found that Edie constantly got confused with Eddie when written down. Effie seems like a nickname/abbreviation rather than a proper name.
