Love Sylvie. Quite like Maeve, Rosalie, and Juliet.

I had the same thought as a few other posters about Freya and Matilda being a bit popular/well used lately.

LadyEloise10 · 07/05/2022 16:08

Freya
Juliet
Rosalie
Are my choices. I don't like the others.

VintageGibbon · 07/05/2022 16:07

Lots of good ones.

I love Freya, Jasmine, Mathilda, Sylvie, Meredith.

I hate Connie - makes me think of con-artists, but that one aside the others are fine.

MargaritasOnMe · 07/05/2022 16:04

Arietta - immediate thought was no but actually quite like it now I've said it a few times.
Connie - quite like this, I've taught a few.
Freya - lovely. Popular but lovely.
Jasmine - love this, really under-used although maybe quite 'Disney' for some people.
Juliet - love this, elegant and classic.
Lottie - not a fan, sorry.
Maeve - it's ok but you have nicer options.
Matilda - love this, if ds2 had been a girl this may well have been his name.
Melody - really like! Different.
Meredith - no really don't like this.
Rosalie - gorgeous, love.
Sylvie - lovely, makes me think of a fairy.
Violet - I can never decide if I like this name. It sounds quite harsh to my ears, but there's nothing really wrong with it.

My top 3 would be Matilda, Sylvie and Melody.

EasyLifer · 07/05/2022 15:54

Love Connie, Juliet, Maeve and Violet, not keen on the rest, sorry.

FourChimneys · 07/05/2022 15:53

My favourite is Julie. I also love Connie but I knew an adorable child with that name so slightly biased.

There are plenty of small Freyas so maybe avoid that one. Melody is my least favourite.

bakewellbride · 07/05/2022 15:48

For Lottie I'd put Charlotte on the birth certificate. We have a Charlotte.

Not keen on Meredith. At school we had a really strict teacher called Mrs Meredith who was nicknamed mrs Mega Death so that probably skews my perception though!

Redcupbluecuppa · 07/05/2022 15:43

Sylvie is my favourite and it's lovely

MsTSwift · 07/05/2022 15:42

I would exclude Freya and Matilda as overused but any of the others good

SaltNPepperSquid · 07/05/2022 15:41

Don’t like Arietta and find Freya very wet. Lottie is too nicknamey.

The others are nice.

Melody is due a comeback. Such a lovely name.

sunflowerdaisyrose · 07/05/2022 15:38

I like all apart from Maeve, Sylvie, Melody and Arietta. Juliet and Matilda I think are my favourites.

Monpetitjardin · 07/05/2022 14:33

I like them all except Arietta (too much like The Borrowers) and Violet.

Arietta - The Borrowers?
Connie - not my bag
Freya overdone
Jasmine - bit 90s
Juliet - ok
Lottie - twee
Maeve - not my bag
Matilda - overdone
Melody - quite interesting / unusual
Meredith - ditto Melody
Rosalie - not my bag
Sylvie - not my bag
Violet - nice - like viola too

Yes Blush DW doesn't like 'book names' and I've been trying to find a way to use Arietty without using Arietty... it's a moot point anyway because I just asked DW again and she's now vetoed Arietta and Matilda. Sigh.

Arietta - awful, sounds like 'Harry ate a'. Harriet is much nicer.
Connie - like
Freya - overused
Jasmine - ok
Juliet - ok
Lottie -ok if short for Charlotte
Maeve - not keen
Matilda - overused
Melody - ding dong
Meredith - horrible
Rosalie - not keen
Sylvie - not keen
Violet -ok

TheSandgroper · 07/05/2022 12:24

Maeve, Rosalie and Julia rather than Juliet. All good for grown ups.

ButterRose · 07/05/2022 11:55

Like Freya and Rosalie absolutely love Maeve and Sylvie really dislike Lottie, Connie and Ariette the rest are meh imo you asked for honest

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/05/2022 11:39

Not keen on Arietta, Lottie or Violet but I love the rest. Particularly Matilda, Melody and Juliet

itssquidstella · 07/05/2022 11:26

Of your list, I like:

Freya (but it's a bit dull)
Juliet
Maeve (used to hate but it's grown on me recently!)
Matilda (again, a bit overused though)
Meredith
Sylvie
Violet

Beamur · 07/05/2022 11:22

I prefer Viola to Violet too. Nicer sounding.

Hohofortherobbers · 07/05/2022 11:11

Juliet is my favourite, also like Meredith

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 07/05/2022 11:04

Juliet is gorgeous and my fave - so beautiful and elegant imo. Also think lovely Sylvie and Rosalie are very pretty and chic.

Matilda is a strong sounding semi classic imo and Freya and Maeve have a lovely lyrical sound (if all 3 perhaps a bit more popular).

Dislike the others - not keen on the nickname type names, Arietta, Melody and Meredith really not my taste and much prefer elegant Viola and Jessamine to Violet and Jasmine (as they sound less harsh to me.)
