Selena?

Thoughts on Selena? Potential nn being Lena (pronounced Lee-na)

Suggested by DH who is set on it and must admit it's far better than his previous suggestion of Senna (yes like the laxative 😂)

I do like it but would not really have considered it without DH's input. I like it but wonder if it's dated, any opinions welcome.

Also any other name suggestions would be great, I like a longer first name for the birth cert and future but do like the option of a nn as a child.

Usually I like more vintage names but can't seem to find any I love.

If relevant, I already have an Adeline (nn Addie)

Prefer Selene.

Selena is a nice name.
It's from the Greek for "moon" and plenty of names used all over the world are of Greek origin. It's not exclusive to Latin Americans.

This is the input I need, never personally seen other spellings of Selena so wouldn't think of there being any confusion but need to know if that'll be an issue. As for it being popular with American Latinas, will it be a cultural issue etc if I use it? (on what will likely be a very pale blonde if I or DD are anything to go by 😂)

Most Celines are spelt with a C and most Selenas with a S as Selena Gomez and Selena Quintanilla the only C Selena I can think of is Celina Powell. It seems to be quite a popular name with American Latinas.

Spelling issues. Some will spell it Celina, others Selina

In that case yes, I like it.

I love Selena with the nickname Lena. Really lovely.

Thank you for responses, Serena is pretty but also the name of a family member. Not close enough for any Selena/Serena confusion but too close to give DD the same name and she would definitely think we named DD after her!
