I knew one who would now be about in her seventies. It is a nice name.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 03/05/2022 10:17

I love it! I know a Delphine and she's lovely, just a really good person.

ThatshallotBaby · 03/05/2022 10:03

I like it. Also like Camille.

doveseternal · 03/05/2022 03:03

Belle Delphine

Cauliflowersqueeze · 03/05/2022 02:10

It was really popular in France in the 90s

RichardsGear · 03/05/2022 00:04

I only know of one and she's an older teen known as Dellie.

TippledPink · 03/05/2022 00:01

Makes me think of the porn star (despite never having watched porn 🤨) . She was on social media with lots of simp followers prior to the porn.

Twinsmummy1812 · 03/05/2022 00:00

I think it’s very pretty, two thoughts though:

  1. would you want to be called it? Some of the names I see on MN sound horrible to me and I wonder if their parents would change their own names to it!
  2. what’s it going to sound like in your accent being shouted across a supermarket when she runs off? if it passes those tests, go for it!
PeaceLurking9to5 · 02/05/2022 23:53

No, reminds me of delph.

AdaColeman · 02/05/2022 23:49

I know an adult Delphine, I think it’s an absolutely beautiful name.

SpaceJamtart · 02/05/2022 23:28

I still think of the woman who sold her bathwater when i hear the name in its own, but that wouldnt translate to meeting a person with that name

Chaoslatte · 02/05/2022 23:27

I don’t like it. It’s too fussy and doesn’t shorten well.

Laquila · 02/05/2022 23:24

I think it's really beautiful. It was on my list for a girl but not needed - I've since met a grown-up Delphine who's a tad annoying, but that's my problem not yours 🤣 go for it!!

Axahooxa · 02/05/2022 23:24

gorgeous name.

MissBattleaxe · 02/05/2022 23:22

Delphine is an absolutely beautiful name!

SalsaLove · 02/05/2022 23:20

No. It’s awkward.

badg3r · 02/05/2022 23:17

Makes me think of Delphine donkey too. I'm not a huge fan. But clunky, no good abbreviations, bit more out there than other French names doing the rounds and not in a good way. Sorry!

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 02/05/2022 23:10

I think it's lovely. Can't think of any negatives. I like dolphins! I'm not keen on Celeste (Barbar the elephant's wife in the Barbar books).

quietnightmare · 02/05/2022 23:08

Don't like 'del' makes me think of Del Boy

FeathersMcGee · 02/05/2022 23:08

Laureatus · 02/05/2022 23:02

Sorry, it makes me think of the really drippy character from Cold Comfort Farm!

That was Elphine! Elphine Starkadder.

I was actually about to suggest Elphine as an alternative!

Cloud16 · 02/05/2022 23:06

I also think it's a bit dolphin-y

BungleandGeorge · 02/05/2022 23:05

I like it but only if you have a French accent

Laureatus · 02/05/2022 23:02

Sorry, it makes me think of the really drippy character from Cold Comfort Farm!

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/05/2022 21:51

I don’t really like een ends, they sound old fashioned to me - Pauline, Rosaleen.. but it’s alright.

It’s lovely if you have a connection to France

makes me think of dolphins!

Lived in france for a year, but otherwise no connection. Not sure it matters though - there are lots of other popular french names around at the moment e.g. Clementine, Amelie, Elodie, Genevieve etc.
