We have a baby bean due in November and we're not finding out the sex of this baby so thinking about girls and boys names

Girls (middle name would be Patricia and then I have a really common last name on the same lines of smith)

Dahlia-Raine
Alice
Hattie
Addison
Wren
Blair
Juniper
River
Meredith
Callie

Boys (we already have a Louis (Lou-ee) , middle name would be Alexander)

James
Finn
Jack
Ezra

To be honest we need some suggestions for boys, took forever to name our son.

Please help Smile

Dahlia on its own is gorgeous but definitely not Dahlia-Rayne that's too much
I love Hattie but only as a nn to Harriet also love Juniper
Alice is nice but I think too plain next to your last name the rest I'm not really a fan of

Boys names I love James but don't really like the rest of your list have you considered something like Niall, Rhys, Myles, Ethan?

CP2701 · 04/05/2022 23:31

I like Callie and Blair. I dislike old fashioned names so not keen on Hattie or Alice etc.

Finn is nice! I have a nephew called Ezra, I think it's lovely but rising in popularity a lot now.

I saw a girl called Ezra on tiktok this week. I kinda like it! I like boyish names for girls though.

My own daughters are Kendall and Brodie.

I wanted Brodie to be Harlow but her dad didn't like the name. I also like Jorgie, Paisley and Esme.

wildasthewind · 02/05/2022 18:34

Love Alice beautiful name , between then James or Finn, probably James

frenchie4002 · 02/05/2022 18:26

Love the Grey's Anatomy inspo :)
My favourite girls from your list are Meredith, Hattie and River.
For boys I like Ezra and Jack though they are very popular. Other suggestions: Theo, Sonny, Harry, Jude.

pineapplications · 02/05/2022 18:19

All boys names are fine apart from Ezra, just not my cuppa.

Dahlia-Raine - atrocious
Alice - classic, nice.
Hattie - don't really like
Addison - American surname as first name trend that's creeping over to Britain (like Grayson)
Wren - sweet but a bird
Blair - Tony, Witch Project, American surname thing again
Juniper - no
River - Overdone. 50% of kids these days are called river and that's a fact
Meredith - nice.
Callie - meh

DoctorZog · 02/05/2022 18:16

Dahlia-Raine - Awful. Maybe Azalea or Camellia if you want to go down the slightly unusual flower name road?
Alice - classic, bit like Lucy
Hattie - quite sweet as nn for Harriet
Addison - horrible
Wren - I think it's had it's day - was a bit hipster a few years ago and now just sounds dated to me
Blair - god no - Tony Blair, Blair Witch Project, bleurgh...
Juniper - ok, prefer Jasmine
River - ok, bit think it will date as having a bit of a moment
Meredith - bit 90s - Merryn? Madeleine?
Callie - meh

James - so dull
Finn - I like Finley or Griffin, nn Fin / Finn
Jack - nice
Ezra - horrible

How about -

Aidan
Joel
Zachary
Rowan
Reuben
Jason
Dylan
Miles / Myles
Nathan

KayEmAy · 02/05/2022 18:05

Are you a Greys Anatomy fan per chance?

I've only seen the first season (and not all the eps)

Callie was actually from a book I read when I was a child - it's called noughts and crosses (I didn't know there was a character in greys anatomy called Callie).

cheapskatemum · 02/05/2022 17:13

Blair is a boy's name? The only woman I've ever heard of with that name spelt it Blaire.

I think the American spelling is Blair - I've only seen it spelt that way!

DelphiniumBlue · 02/05/2022 17:19

Dahlia-Raine is ridiculous, although Dahlia or Delia would be OK.
Addison is a surname, and a taxi firm. Not nice for a child's first name.
Hattie is a sweet nickname for Harriet or Hatice, Blair is a witch project and also a surname. Callie is nice as a nick name, short for...? Caroline? Calliope?
River is too try-hard, Juniper and Meredith quite cute. Wren sounds as if it is the name of a spoilt brat, and a whingey one at that! Alice is fairly classic.
The boys names you listed are all fairly unremarkable, which in my eyes is a good thing. Ezra is a nice mix of classic, fairly global but not overused.

Love Hattie and Callie. Favourite boys name is James.

steppemum · 02/05/2022 16:32

I think the response is to Dhalia-Raine which is awful.
Dahlia is pretty, similar to other flower names.
But please tell me you owuld pronounce it liek the flower - Daylia, not Dahhhlia.

Oh yes I love Dahila

Parryon · 02/05/2022 16:34

Dahlia-Raine - definitely not both names, but if you love it then Dahlia is pretty
Alice - beautiful
Hattie - agree with pp of using Harriet with this as a nn
Addison - no, too American
Wren - hate this
Blair - no, too American
Juniper - sweet; nn Juni
River - try-hard hippie
Meredith - ok
Callie - sweet; love Caroline with nn Callie

Boys (we already have a Louis (Lou-ee) , middle name would be Alexander)

James - lovely
Finn - lovely
Jack - lovely
Ezra - lovely

other suggestions: Jonah, Isaac

*Your boy choices are all nice, that should be.

Pemba · 02/05/2022 16:20

Alice is lovely, by far the best of your girl's names. Callie is quite sweet, though it seems as though it should be short for something, not quite sure what!

Addison is definitely the worst girl choice. You know it is actually a surname meaning 'son of Adam'? Very unfeminine. Even Madison, which has a similar sound, is so much nicer just because it has been used as a girl's name for longer I suppose. Plus it has the cute shortening of 'Maddie'. Although of course Madeleine is much better and classier.

I really don't get the current love for Wren. It's a small bird. The sound is not great
What if she turns out to be quite big when she's older, it would be a bit ridiculous.

oy choices are all nice.

Crankley · 02/05/2022 16:15

Dahlia-Raine - hideous
Alice - nice
Hattie - ok
Addison - no
Wren - no
Blair - ghastly
Juniper - no
River - awful
Meredith - nice
Callie - ni

Boys (we already have a Louis (Lou-ee) , middle name would be Alexander)

James - nice
Finn - no
Jack - ok
Ezra - no

My favourite boy's name is Marcus.

blameitonthecaffeine · 02/05/2022 15:50

Dahlia-Raine - I kind of love this. I don't think I'd use it personally but it's gloriously 60s/70s hippy flower child.
Alice - very solid and traditional but pretty.
Hattie - like it but would use as a nn for Harriet
Addison - like it. Quite an American feel.
Wren - Not keen.
Blair - too Gossip Girl.
Juniper - love it. Also has a hippy vibe but safer than Dahlia-Raine.
River - love it for a boy. Like it for a girl.
Meredith - not keen. Sounds a bit severe.
Callie - sweet. I like it but might use as a nn for Clarissa, Calliope or Calista.

James - like it. Totally timeless and solid.
Finn - really like it. Prefer Finley.
Ezra - like it.
Jack - really like it. Perhaps a bit less everywhere than it was too.

Firebird83 · 02/05/2022 15:48

Alice or James

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 02/05/2022 15:28
