Zoe and Finn (favourite ever boy’s name) all day long 😍

Coughsyrup · 06/05/2022 23:17

Zoe & William!

Ragwort · 05/05/2022 20:11

Julia and William.

Julia (& Julie) was very usual when I was young (I am over 60!) but you rarely hear it these days.

Zoe and Finn for me, but Luke is nice too.

aleebaleebee · 01/05/2022 23:01

Julia and Luke. Like all your names apart from Violet.

I think you are set on Luke and Zoe (which would be my second choices) but if not, I'll throw my hat in for Julia and William (although I'm admittedly biased Blush). Imo Julia and William are the most classic and timeless of your choices so should age very well - plus they have the benefit of being the most popular/well used internationally of your picks so travel well too. I personally wouldn't choose Finn or Violet - they are too trendy now for me.

BeyondMyWits · 01/05/2022 15:04

Not (just) William with Violet... she may scweam and scweam and scweam...

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 01/05/2022 14:55

Julia and Luke. Lovely names.

Yes that’s what we wanted for all of our kids too! Well known name but not overused, a ‘real’ name not made up, not common, but not weird! Easy to spell. Another of our faves was Cleo which I think also fits the bill but DH not so keen.

Anyway, I think you have great taste so won’t to wrong whatever you pick!

Cloud16 · 01/05/2022 12:53

@MassiveSalad22 aw congrats on your new baby Zoe!

My name is very unusual and I like that it's memorable and identifies me pretty easily but I think it made me feel different/weird growing up. Although 3 of my 48 year old colleagues are called Jill and being in a meeting with just the 3 of them can be confusing!!

I think a well known but not 'trend'/overused name would be a good balance.

MassiveSalad22 · 01/05/2022 12:35

so one of the 2 new Zoe’s I know is mine, and the other was born a week after, neither old enough to have been registered yet or come up on stats. Guarantee it is going to boom (because it’s a great name). Mark my words!
However kids seem to LOVE coming across others with their same name. My 2 older ones have been delighted if we ever have. Also there was a thread recently about ‘did you have an unusual name and did you like it’ - so many people saying as a kid they had wished to be a Louise or a Barbara like their friends.

Cloud16 · 01/05/2022 11:32

Ah great info thanks @wingsofabird ! I've just heard of a few baby Zoe's lately but it's good to see it's not overused. I love Zoe too.

I think we are pretty certain on Zoe and Luke now.

Thanks everyone!

  • the link is to a graph of the official number of babies named Zoe since the 90s. The name has absolutely plummeted and is now outside the top 100 and still falling - perfect
wingsofabird · 01/05/2022 10:44

I absolutely love the name Zoe , I'd definitely use that. @Cloud16

I'm confused how you think it's getting more popular, always best to check the official ONS statistics 📉 and look, Zoe's numbers have been falling every year for the past 25 years pretty much. It's a great time to pick this name, its well and truly peaked
