I love Caspian. Probably especially due to Cs Lewis / Prince Caspian as always loved those books

with the nickname Ian? - No. I'd prefer nn Cass

Maybe McCoy or Altair as a middle name? - both of these are awful. Altair sounds like an airline.

I love Caspian. Ian is a surprising choice for child today, but it's a solid name and if he finds it too dated he can always change to Cass or Caspian.

I really like it but couldn’t think of a good nickname for it. Ian as a nn just seems a bit odd to me
