Help name twins

Hi,
As you can see, we’re expecting twins, due in a month! We’ve got some ideas for names but just coming on here to see if anyone can offer some help. We already have a son, Alexander Nicholas John nn Xander and a daughter, Stella Amelia Blythe. Our general formula for middle names is a longer 1st middle name, and a family name for the 2nd middle name, although this isn’t set in stone. We are not sure what we’re having, so have to come up with 2 boys names and 2 girls!

For boys, our favourite names are:
Louis
Nathanial nn Nate
Theo
Leo
Frederick nn Freddie
With middle names Sebastian Miles and Arthur James

and for girls, we’ve struggled to come up with names, but we like:
Juliet
Esme
Lucinda nn Lucy
Rose (my middle name so think this would be nice to include)
Lyra
Sophie (family name)
Lily (maybe with Lillian as a long name)
With middle names Flora Katherine and Daisy Ellen (Daisy from family name Margaret, but we’ve found that the -y ending often doesn’t flow well )

Any thoughts on which names flow best with our middle names or suggestions of other names would be great, but if you don’t like lots of our names, please try not to say anything because I don’t want to loose confidence in them! X

From your boys list -
Louis - I quite like, but always get confused how to pronounce it as I've known boys with this spelling pronounced "Louie" and others "Lewis". I prefer the Lewis spelling for that reason.

Nathanial - I really like this.

Theo - love this. My favourite on your boys list. It's quite popular, but not enough to put me off using it.

Leo - again I love this. Also really popular in my area.

Frederick nn Freddie - I love Freddie, but not keen on Frederick.

From your girls list -
Juliet - love this!

Esme - I like pronounced "Ezmay", which is the most common way of saying it where I live, but have heard a few on here say "Ezmee" which just doesn't sound right to me.

Lucinda nn Lucy - Absolutely love Lucy. This was the name I had planned for the baby I lost so it holds a special place in my heart.
Lucinda is nice too.

Rose - I prefer Rosie or Rosa. Also love Rosanna and Rosalie.

Lily - I like, but I hear it too often. I like Lilia.

ButterRose · 07/05/2022 14:18

Love the short listed names!

Louis Sebastian Miles
Theo Arthur James or Beckett Arthur James

Sophie Flora Katherine
Esmé Daisy Ellen

Alexander Nicholas John, Stella Amelia Blythe and ...

Louis Arthur James
Casper Frederick James
(If two boys then Casper Frederick Miles)

Lucy Margaret Ellen
Sophie Katherine Rose

Louis and Casper or Lucy and Sophie
Louis and Sophie or Casper and Lucy or Casper and Sophie.

I would wait until they are here. Otherwise you may have 2 boys or 2 girls or one of each so you are effectively possibly trying to name 6 babies!! I think twin names should sound good together I.e perhaps not Theo and Leo 😬 but you may like Theo and Lucinda or Leo and Lillian etc.

See what they look like is my suggestion Smile best of luck OP.

Love Beckett nn Kit for a boy. Also really like Adeline but don't like the nn Addy. Adaline with nn Ada is on my list but veto'd by husband.

Also with Blaire Tony Blair wouldn't cross my mind. I instantly thought of Blaire Waldorf off Gossip Girl who I love as a character :)

Wow! Thanks @KayEmAy , some great suggestions! Really like Kit for boys, but maybe with the full name Beckett? I know it’s traditionally short for Christopher, but I think I’d prefer to call my son Beckett if he wants to use a longer name, and don’t want the nickname Chris coming up! For girls, I like Blaire (but worry about Tony Blair references!), Leia and Eve/Evie (maybe with the longer name Genevieve), and have also thought since of the name Adelaide/Adeline with the nickname Addy. Any thoughts?

Noah Griffin Miles

Christopher "Kit" Noah

Girls -

Thea Spencer Rose

Sarah Felicity Rose

Scarlett Sophie Rose

Demi Flora Katherine

Wendy Harper Rose

Reese Nora Katherine

Hope this helps!

pitterypattery00 · 25/04/2022 17:24

How exciting OP!

If two boys I think Nathaniel & Frederick are really nice together and go with Alexander. And Xander, Freddie and Nate also works.

If two girls, maybe Lucy & Rose, or Lilian and Juliet. Any combo would work apart from Lily & Lucy as they're too similar.

If boy/girl I think any combo works.

eggs0ntoast · 25/04/2022 17:11

Not identical, so not sure whether they’re same sex. X

OP posts:
Irishfarmer · 25/04/2022 12:46

Do you know if they are the same sex?

I like all your names apart from Lucinda

I like Nathanial and Frederick or Esme and Lyra.

greenteafiend · 25/04/2022 12:46

Nathaniel and Leo for boys' names.

For girls, I like Juliet, Lucinda and Rose. Lilly and Sophie are a bit done-to-death, and Lyra makes me think of lycra and liar.

beetree1 · 25/04/2022 11:57

Congratulations. I find it hard enough thinking for one unknown gender let alone thinking of 2 boys and 2 girls.

I like Nathaniel Sebastian Miles and Frederick Arthur James for boys and think this goes well with your DS name.

For girls I would go for Juliette Daisy Ellen (love this name a lot or even Julietta / Etta for short) and Lucinda Flora Katherine.

I do like Rose and Lillian and probably would of gone with Lillian over Lucinda but not sure if its too floral with both middle name sets having 'flower' names. What about Lilibet so you could have a different nickname?

Good luck :)

user3199 · 24/04/2022 14:58

You've shortlisted some lovely names OP! Of your girls names I really like Lillian, Juliet and
Lucy (but don't like Lucinda at all).

Of the boys names, I like Nathaniel - but prefer Nathan. Not keen on Theo or Leo, and they seem a bit short compared to Alexander. Another boys suggestion would be Matthew.

Although you don't know the sex of the babies, do you know if they are both the same sex?
