I seem to be stuck on the name Ruth. I think it’s due a comeback and love the nickname Ru. Baby girl due soon!
What are peoples thoughts?

The story of Ruth in the bible is a wonderful story about a devoted daughter in law. The New English Bible tells the narrative in an easy to read way.
Call your baby Ruth. It will be unusual in this day & age and in the context I mention is beautiful and worthy of love and respect.

I don't also understand why people name their children Mark, Paul etc when their names are also something completely different - stain on your dress, swimming pool / snooker like game?

Um… roof and Ruth, Paul and pool are pronounced completely differently (I’ll give you Mark).

I like the name, but for some reason it just sounds a bit sad. Don't know why, maybe the single syllable thing.

I love the name. We used it for dd’s middle name after my gm, she loves it and wishes it was her first name.

I don't love it but don't mind it either. A family member is called Ruth and she hates it. Not sure why tbh
