What do you think of Bellamy for a boy? Is it too out there?

Can't hear that name without thinking about David peeking out a big bushy shrub!

Lochroy · 19/04/2022 15:43

I think some surnames work as first names, but I don't think this does.

Also reminds me of David... creeping... slowly through the bushes...talking... in hushed tones... Grin

I immediately thought of David Bellamy and now can't get the image of a small boy with a bushy beard out of my head.

SnowyPetals · 19/04/2022 15:40

It sounds more like a middle name that runs in a family, eg it was mother's maiden name or similar.

Purpleroseas · 19/04/2022 15:40

Names don't need shortening.

I have a 3 syllable name that never gets shortened.

Purpleroseas · 19/04/2022 15:39

I don't think Bellamy is out there at all. It's easy to say and spell. It means 'fine friend' apparently!

MartinMartinMarti · 19/04/2022 15:39

Not great. Trying too hard to be different, and are you planning to shorten it to Bell?

Happenchance · 19/04/2022 15:37

I like the sound but think there's a risk that they will get called Belle or Bellend.

Pember · 19/04/2022 15:37

I actually quite like it! Only problem would be nickname Bell being mistaken for Belle.

DPotter · 19/04/2022 15:35

short answer - yes

longer answer - I'm not into surnames as first names. use as a middle name perhaps?
