What do you think of Bellamy for a boy? Is it too out there?

@diceydice

And I must say, I have absolutely no idea who David Bellamy is 😂
Even in England I think the David Bellamy link is quite age restricted

When I was pregnant and hormonal I had Thor and Zephyr on my list. Thankfully I was dissuaded given the dull suburban existence I live in (if I was a rock star I would have insisted!). David Bellamy and grappling gwapenuts is all I can think of 🤣

JustPlainKnackered · 19/04/2022 16:12

Totally. He'll get called bellend, don't do it.

Thought you might not, hence my helpful link upthread!
FindMeInTheSunshine · 19/04/2022 16:12

Bellamy is a girl's name to me, having seen the actress Bellamy Young in a couple of things!

JaneJeffer · 19/04/2022 16:11

@diceydice I was joking because they're characters from Upstairs/Downstairs but I guess everyone is too young to remember.

diceydice · 19/04/2022 16:10

@SoggyPaper yeah I do think it's a bit more well known here in Australia rather than the UK maybe.

Honestly, I think people would find it fairly unremarkable in Australia really.

SleepingStandingUp · 19/04/2022 16:07

As see bell end isn't a thing is Aus. I still vote no, sorry. Too surnamey

SoggyPaper · 19/04/2022 16:07

@SoupDragon

I immediately thought of David Bellamy and now can't get the image of a small boy with a bushy beard out of my head.
That’s all I can think of too.

Younger people might not make that association though.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 19/04/2022 16:06

This is my first association with Bellamy - and a lot of other British adults my age, too! Although kids would have no idea.

CasZekey · 19/04/2022 16:05

I loved the 100 too and my kid has a name from Supernatural but it's a no from me. Bell End is just too easy.

diceydice · 19/04/2022 16:04

Thanks! But we already have the middle name picked out.

@JaneJeffer which thread is that?

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 19/04/2022 15:58

It will go nicely with Hudson from the other recent thread.

diceydice · 19/04/2022 15:52

Thank you all! I definitely don't want to come across as trying too hard 🙈 I guess I don't know much about the name, so didn't even realize it's more associated with being a surname!

I'm Australian if it makes a difference. So I don't think I would have to worry about the bellend association, but to be fair, if kids want to find a way to mock a name, they will! Grin I do actually like the nn Bell, but in my head the full name would always be the written name, so no need to worry about belle spelling. My thoughts anyways Grin

I still have plenty of time to pick a name, so I'm not stressing about it yet! Bellamy is probably my most "out there" suggestion, so I'm happy to take any opinions on it!

OP posts:
Blone · 19/04/2022 15:50

It's not "out there", it's just awful.

GoodSoup · 19/04/2022 15:50

I think you risk the nicknames…

carefullycourageous · 19/04/2022 15:47

@ethelredonagoodday

"Rummaging through the undergrowth", (or words to that effect). 🤣

HerkyBaby · 19/04/2022 15:47

It’s fabulous

YayitisfinallySpring · 19/04/2022 15:47

No. It's really doesn't work and he'd be called Belle or Bellend at school.

DrDetriment · 19/04/2022 15:47

It's awful. He'll be nicknamed bellend by the kids and David by adults.
