Elle vs Belle?

That’s it really. Elle would be short for Eloise and Belle would be short for Isabel.

I’m mostly just interested in which of the nicknames you prefer!

Eloise nn Elle is lovely.

@MrsTerryPratchett oh yes... Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/04/2022 23:49

@DorritLittle

If short for Isabel though, I'd spell it Bel.
Then she could be Babybel
DramaAlpaca · 16/04/2022 23:49

Belle.

Not Elle, it just means 'she' in French. Yes, I know Belle means 'beautiful' but at least it's not totally generic.

@CheeseCheeseCheeseCheese

I like Eloise NN Elle
I do too but I also don't understand people choosing nicknames before the child arrives.

Didn't nicknames used to be organic and generally chosen by the child and/or circumstance?

DorritLittle · 16/04/2022 23:47

If short for Isabel though, I'd spell it Bel.

DorritLittle · 16/04/2022 23:47

Belle is lovely.

I prefer Elle but I much prefer Isobel to Eloise.

So if call her Isobel or Isabella and have Issy or Bella as a NN.

CheeseCheeseCheeseCheese · 16/04/2022 23:43

I like Eloise NN Elle

RuthW · 16/04/2022 22:30

Eloise is much nicer than Isabel and far less popular.

PeskyRooks · 16/04/2022 22:16

Bunnybingesoneggs · 16/04/2022 22:11

Belle is too frilly!

Gazelda · 16/04/2022 22:09
