Camilla or Diana?

Genuinely I love both names…

Which name do you prefer?

And if one is picked, is the other destined to never be chosen for a future sister due to the royal family connotation… Or would it not matter..and Camilla and Diana are perfect matching sister names.

Thanks

Never thought about it before but Camilla is a really nice name with good nickname potential. Would definitely avoid the sister wives theme though!

viktoria · 16/04/2022 00:10

My friend is called Diana. Her sister is called Camilla.
They are both in their fifties - so well before there were any Charles connotations.

Appolonia · 15/04/2022 23:52

I've a Camilla. She's 2, and insists on being called "Ca". Confused

They're both lovely names, but no, not for siblings.

WaitinginVain · 15/04/2022 23:35

I like both but prefer Camilla.

To be honest, it wouldn't bother me to use for siblings.

Pember · 15/04/2022 23:27

Diana is a nice underused classic, definitely deserving of a comeback IMO.

Camilla is a bit too prissy for me.

Both perfectly fine hands individually but definitely not for sisters!

Firebird83 · 15/04/2022 22:01

I like Diana, it feels very elegant and glamorous.

SunshiningBoo · 15/04/2022 21:40

I like Diana.

itssquidstella · 15/04/2022 21:28

I love the name Camilla but can't abide Milly so it's off the table for me. Diana I think is on the verge of making a come back - in ten years, it'll be old fashioned enough to be cool again. You could be a trail blazer!

I definitely wouldn't use them together, but individually they are nice names.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 15/04/2022 21:07

Diana is a beautiful name. I love it.

Camilla is pretty but not a patch on Diana (Grin)

onemorerose · 15/04/2022 20:56

I love Diana, not fussed on Camilla. Definitely not the two together. I wouldn’t be able to help but laugh if someone introduced sisters as this.

LuluBlakey1 · 15/04/2022 20:48

I had an Aunt called Diana who got Didy ( pronounced Diedee)

SpaceJamtart · 15/04/2022 20:46

I prefer Diana, I know one who shortens it to Dee or DeeDee.
It feels more like Wonder Woman wheras Camilla sounds quite 60s and not in a cool way.

Cryingintherain99 · 15/04/2022 20:41

I like both.
As a child I had a baby doll called Diana.
Funnily enough I really dislike the name Diane, but replacing the e with an a makes a whole world of difference.
I feel the same about Joanne/ Joanna. Isabelle/ Isabella. Julie/ Julia.

I like Camilla. I think I've only ever met one and she was lovely.

LuluBlakey1 · 15/04/2022 20:40

My friend has a toddler christened Camilla but they call her Milla. I like it.

elephantbreathing · 15/04/2022 20:37

My friend is named Diana, but pronounced in the Italian way - Dee-Anna.
Pretty name.

ArtVandalay · 15/04/2022 20:33

Camilla is a nice name, Diana is really not.

And if you gave the name to siblings, people would think you were having a laugh.

DogsNotMen · 15/04/2022 20:18

I kinda think it would be quirky for twins!!!

I prefer Camilla, you could always have Camilla Diane as a name

Xenaaa · 15/04/2022 20:16

I think I knew deep down they could never be sisters…I just happen to like the names individually. It’s just a shame once I pick one… I’m going to have to say goodbye to the other name as a potential sister.

And I definitely couldn’t even use it as a middle name! Eg Camilla Diana ….

Camilla for me.

My DM has no end of friends called Diana and Diane so it seems such a 50s/60s name to me. I’ve known one or two Camillas and they are of differing ages so seems less attached to any particular generation.

MinoucheSapphic · 15/04/2022 19:24

I think they're fine individually but it would seem strange and inappropriate to use them for sisters, given the history. Surely there are other names you like?

Roselilly36 · 15/04/2022 18:29

This can’t be a genuine question, who would dream of putting those names together given the history?

CPL593H · 15/04/2022 18:11

Either lovely, please not both for sisters! Grin

Andacherryonthetop · 15/04/2022 18:07

Definitely not a sibset.

I think you would need to consider nicknames because even if you didn’t want their names to be shortened, sometimes you just can’t stop it happening.
Do you like - cam, cammie, Millie, di, Annie etc
I think I would go for camilla out of the 2 if it were me

RuthW · 15/04/2022 17:58

Like both.

Probably Camilla as I like Cam.

Then again I like Annie for Diana.

LetitiaLeghorn · 15/04/2022 14:50

Camilla. It always makes me think of Camille, Lady of the Camellias. I loved that book when I was young.
Diana is just dated at the moment but because of its Greek ancestory it will come back in fashion.
