Those names are wildly different! Not saying that's bad or anything.

Anyway, I prefer Orla.

@Firelogbridge I've said the name 10 times out load I don't think I say the O, I say R-La! Accents are a funny thing aren't they. I lived in SE England for a good while I can def imagine my friends saying O-La

Firelogbridge · 27/04/2022 12:33

Orla is a nice name but as an Irish person living in England it grates on my when it is pronounced 'Ola' where the 'r' was dropped. The 'r' is such a significant part of the name that it doesn't sound nice otherwise imo.

Kat1953 · 27/04/2022 12:30

Izzy is lovely but I think Orla is beautiful!

17caterpillars1mouse · 27/04/2022 12:30

Orla though I'd spell it Orlaith

Unless Izzy was a NN for Isobel or Isadora? If so I would go with that option

OnlySoAnHour · 27/04/2022 11:26

Orla very similar to Orca, so instantly I thought of a whale, then potentially fat teasing at school. Izzy is nice but it’s a nickname.

How about Orli? It's a Hebrew name that means 'light'.

It’s cute but Orla means Golden princess which considering me and my partner are both red heads which I’m 99% sure this baby will be too like her sister I think that meaning is much nicer for us. Xx

Eh, I find it funny how many people diss Izzy considering on other threads most posters rave about names such as Alfie or Albie, which are just as nicknamey as Izzy.

That said personally I can't stand nicknames used in lieu of the real name. But that's just me so if you love it don't let that stop you.

To be honest I'm not that keen on Orla either. It makes me think of a French novel called The Horla. Beyond that I just don't like how it sounds. But again, just my opinion and I'm clearly in the minority is !

In my experience you know you have found The Name when you stop looking for alternatives, so if Orla does that for you then go for it !

Aww I’ve never heard that name before ! Orla is lovely I might have to nick it lol x

LittlemissMama67 · 22/04/2022 10:11

Deffo using Orla Thankyou!

Hate Izzy

worriedaboutmoney2022 · 15/04/2022 00:58

There was a lady I used to work with called Olive and her twin was Orla I met her socially afew times they were both super cool their names really suited them

Izzy is more a shortened Isabelle really

Luredbyapomegranate · 15/04/2022 00:56

@Nnique

Orla, as Izzy isn’t a name...

Izzy is perfectly fine as a diminutive/nickname.

This
KirstenBlest · 12/04/2022 13:28

Isabel. Orla is not great in a non-rhotic acent. Not keen on Izzy either.

GoodSoup · 12/04/2022 13:21

Orla, because Izzy isn’t a name. Unless a nn for Isabel which I love.

Wildflower922 · 12/04/2022 12:04

Orla, beautiful name

LizzieBet14 · 12/04/2022 12:03

Orla ❤️

Squeezyhug · 12/04/2022 12:00

Orla
Izzy would be good for a cat
Isobel is nice though and shortened to Izzy is ok but not Izzy on its own

Nnique · 12/04/2022 11:56

Purpleroseas · 12/04/2022 11:54

Izzy sounds comical imo

Orla is much nicer

Spidey66 · 12/04/2022 11:48

Orla, or Isabel/Isabelle/Isabella with nn Izzy. But my preference is Orla.

SoupDragon · 12/04/2022 11:47

Orla. Izzy isn't a name.

MinoucheSapphic · 12/04/2022 11:45

Orla. To me Izzy as a nickname for Isabel, Isabella etc. I know some nicknames have gained acceptance as full names (e.g. Nancy) but I don't think Izzy is one of them.

Purpleroseas · 12/04/2022 11:28

Orla

Izzy isn't a name, is it? Isabel would be lovely.
