We are a German-English family and want a name for our boy that work in both languages. Will be a brother for Helena and Fabian. Marius is our front runner but reception has been mixed with people we’ve mentioned it to. Interested in your thoughts, thanks.

Love it. Love the siblings names too.

GucciBear · 08/04/2022 22:15

Gorgeous. |I also love it because there was a really handsome showjumping stallion named Marius.

JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt · 08/04/2022 22:15

Super name.
FYI Marius is a character in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles series.

DramaAlpaca · 08/04/2022 22:13

Love it

I’ll admit I do think Marius! You’re no longer a child.. but I like the name. No different to hearing someone called Christine and Phantom pops into my head…so yes in the U.K. you’ll probably get Les Mis comments but there are worse associations!

Yika · 08/04/2022 22:08

Very nice - all three names.

ShowOfHands · 08/04/2022 22:07

My 14yo DD met a Marius recently and burst into "Don't you fret, Monsieur Marius". It's a fine name even if the Les Mis namesake is a slightly drippy twonk with champagne socialist tendencies.

ofwarren · 08/04/2022 22:03

Great name

sophienelisse · 08/04/2022 21:57

I love it

Facciadimerda · 08/04/2022 21:55

I really like it.

Regularsizedrudy · 08/04/2022 21:49

Ooh I love it. Goes great with the siblings names too

Electrox · 08/04/2022 21:48

I like it.

doughnutcraver · 08/04/2022 21:23

Love it! My Danish friend first born son is called Marius.

LemonViolet · 08/04/2022 21:22

When I met a Marius, I did have the song line “don’t you fret, Monsieur Marius” as an ear worm the entire time, and totally pictured him as Michael Ball, but, it’s a grand name. I don’t think younger generations will be as obsessed with Les Mis as 90s music kids were?

Libertaire · 08/04/2022 21:21

Excellent name.

UhtredsLatestPaganHussy · 08/04/2022 21:19

@CadyStanton

You’re all convincing me it’s the right choice! We are pretty set on it but have had a couple of comments about it feeling like too much in the UK. It’s quite a traditional name in Germany.
People can be very stuffy about anything vaguely unusual. But it's not all the different from Julius or Marcus. Can't see it raising many eyebrows.
Fivebeanchilli · 08/04/2022 21:19

It's gorgeous.

BlueSpottedGiraffe · 08/04/2022 21:18

Lovely name

Makes me think of Les Mis too but not in a bad way

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 08/04/2022 21:18

I'm a huge Les Mis fan and love it!!

KohlaParasaurus · 08/04/2022 21:17

I like it. It's a good strong name, uncommon but not eyebrow-raising. Makes me think of the ancient Roman general rather than the dull lad in Les Miserables.

bowlingalleyblues · 08/04/2022 21:17

Fab name

Comefromaway · 08/04/2022 21:16

Ds has a friend at college called Marius. We keep making Les Mis puns but it’s a nice name.

BotterMon · 08/04/2022 21:13

Beautiful name (and I've never seen Les Mis!)

bewilderedwinner · 08/04/2022 21:12

Lovelovelove
