A sister for Tabitha

Pregnancy insomnia help here please! Lying awake thinking about girls names. Number 2 expected end of May, gender surprise. Boys name decided but girls very much not so. Number 1 is Tabitha, nearly always Tabby, which we love and are struggling to match.

Would love opinions on the following or suggestions for anything with a similar feel...
Cecily
Leonie
Jemima
Georgina
Anouska

Looking for something classic but a bit unusual (aren’t we all 🤣).

Middle names will probably be Flora / and or Bridget - family names.

THANK YOU!

Leonie or Leonora.

@WeasilyPleased

Dd has a friend called Fenella whose big sister is Tabitha.
Someone likes reading Jilly Cooper lol 😆
WildCherryBlossom · 08/04/2022 10:23

Of your list Jemima really stands out to me me. I think it had a very similar feel to Tabitha. I love Flora as a middle name but not sure it works with an "a" ending first name. So I would go with Jemima Bridget of how about Marianne Flora.

There are lots of lovely names on this thread!

Georgette

Josephine

I really like Georgina and think it's due a comeback. Tabby and Georgie would go well together IMO.

Jemima, Matilda and Cordelia are often mentioned alongside Tabitha IME.

Tabitha was on our shortlist, it's lovely Smile

Also on our list were

Beatrix
Imogen
Felicity
Rowan
Matilda
Harriet

We went with one of the above!

I also think Beatrix and Tabitha is a great combo, with a similar feel and great nicknames.

Peachbubble · 07/04/2022 18:59

Love Tabitha, one of my favourite names. How about:
Annabella
Arabella
Cleo
Elodie
Meredith
Octavia

EllaWallace · 07/04/2022 13:23

Thank you so much for all of these thoughts and lovely suggestions!

We love Martha, Felicity & Margot - spot on suggestions - but can’t use due to friends/family 🙄

@TempsPerdu totally get what you mean - thank you - I love Marina. Beautiful name. I also like Beatrix, Juliet and Verity but husband doesn’t. I can’t use Rosanna or Harriet unfortunately as I think they are both great names.

@custardbear haha Tabitha is a hard act to follow! Really like Imogen & Saskia.

Food for thought.... thank goodness we have a few weeks to go.

Tabitha is lovely, but slightly tricky to pair with I think, as it’s sort of ‘classic with a twist’ and, while fairly long, not too frilly or flouncy like many of the currently trendy names.

Tbh I’m not especially keen on any of your shortlist, except for maybe Leonie, which could grow on me I think. Jemima in particular is much too Beatrix Potter with Tabitha (although annoyingly I think Tabitha and Beatrix would actually go together really well).

Tabitha and Flora would have worked well too, but you mentioned you’re reserving that for a middle name. Maybe something Shakespearean for a ‘classic but underused’ name?

Tabitha and Miranda
Tabitha and Rosalind
Tabitha and Juliet
Tabitha and Marina
Tabitha and Viola/Violet

Or alternatively:
Martha (sounds perfect with Tabitha but both Biblical which might be a bit themey?)
Rosanna
Harriet
Verity
Adelaide
Nancy
Claudia
Clementine

feellikezerobucks · 07/04/2022 09:25

I have a Tabs and her sister would be Felicity (Tabs and Fifi sound so cute!)

Good luck!

FayCarew · 07/04/2022 09:17

Cecily - ok
Leonie - not keen
Jemima - like
Georgina - like
Anouska - I know a few Anoushkas, so it might be misspelt/missaid

Jemima is my favourite but maybe not with Tabitha, so would probably pick Georgina. nn Georgie or Gina - both nice

elephantbreathing · 07/04/2022 08:50

Talullah

SunshiningBoo · 07/04/2022 08:46

Georgina is my favourite.

Mommabear20 · 07/04/2022 08:25

Felicity? Shortened to Lissy

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/04/2022 07:26

I love Jemima!

Matilda
Beatrix
Beatrice
Evangeline
Seraphina
Eliza
Delilah
Penelope
Henrietta
