Very interested to hear your opinions on this name. Have a little boy with a popular biblical now. Expecting another baby. Have chosen another biblical name for a boy.
I've always struggled with girls names. I liked Matilda but a friend used it and feel its tarnished the name for me now, so don't feel passionate about using it like I did before.

I recently heard the name Savannah. I work in an area where there are multiple upper class circles and one of the ladies recently had a baby girl called Savannah.
Ever since, I've had this name stuck in my head. The same way I did with Matilda.
I genuinely feel it could be "the" name, so really just intrigued to hear your responses.
Many thanks.

Thank you everyone for the feedback, a mixed bag of reviews but generally quite positive.

To those that suggested Susannah, I really don't like that name. In fact..... however much I've tried to, I don't really like any biblical girls names. Biblical boys names are definitely much nicer!

Also, I don't know Savannah's mum personally. I know of her in the circles I work, so it wouldn't be a issue "copying" - to the person that asked.

Nah. Agree that Susannah is delightful - and goes with your biblical boys name.

WeasilyPleased · 06/04/2022 22:08

I much prefer Susannah. Savannah sounds very 90s to me.

RuthW · 06/04/2022 22:04

Nice

Housetreecar · 06/04/2022 21:39

I think it’s terrible

hearmywomanlyroar · 06/04/2022 21:36

Really like

AuntieStella · 06/04/2022 21:07

Savannah was one of the hipster names of the 1990s (they weren't called hipsters then, but you know what I mean).

I don't think it's a particularly fashionable or posh name

I like it

SunshiningBoo · 06/04/2022 21:02

I love Savannah.

Justkeeppedaling · 06/04/2022 20:51

I also prefer Susannah. Or Deborah.

Luredbyapomegranate · 06/04/2022 20:43

I don’t like it, it’s naff like Atlanta or India to me.

Susannah is lovely though, and if your son has a biblical name it will go well.

DogsAndGin · 06/04/2022 20:17

Very nice

Thehundredthnamechange · 06/04/2022 13:46

And Susannah has adorable nicknames Sukey and Susie and Annie so Susannah always wins for me out of the two.

Also are you friends with baby Savannah's mum? Won't she be a bit annoyed about you copying the name?

Thehundredthnamechange · 06/04/2022 13:45

I used to like it but whenever I see it on Mumsnet, everyone says it is chavvy so it put me off Blush It is a nice sound. Susannah is classier though.

GoodSoup · 06/04/2022 12:48

I really like it and I don’t know any.

Wallabyone · 06/04/2022 12:35

I think it's a lovely name, much nicer than Susannah. I know a toddler one and she's gorgeous.

Flatandhappy · 06/04/2022 12:32

I think it’s lovely. I am surprised how many people prefer Susannah, I view that as very old fashioned.

WashableVelvet · 06/04/2022 12:28

The one I know goes by the nickname Vanna which I think is also short for the Italian name Giovanna which is also beautiful

littlemissdizzy00 · 06/04/2022 12:10

I love it, great choice of name

DoWhatYouLike · 06/04/2022 12:10

I wouldn't have said that Savannah was particularly upper class. It's nice but not unusual.

deadlanguage · 06/04/2022 12:08

I’m not a fan, sorry. I went to school with one but it just doesn’t sound like a name to me!

Comedycook · 06/04/2022 12:07

I love it.

rainbowandglitter · 06/04/2022 12:05

I know so many Savannahs so it depends if you want a popular name or not.

ellecf21 · 06/04/2022 11:56

I really love this name but don't like any of the nicknames I could envisage - Sav, Savvy, Vanna. If you like them though then go for it. As a full name I think it's gorgeous.

scottishnames · 06/04/2022 11:38

As I'm sure you know, savanna means 'rolling grasslands with scattered shrubs and trees' - home to elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras etc www.blueplanetbiomes.org/savanna.php

Like several others here, I much prefer Susannah

17caterpillars1mouse · 06/04/2022 11:11

I know a 10 year old Savannah but she's a bit of a madam which puts me off the name
