In the third trimester now and we are no closer to deciding on a girl's name (we haven't found out the sex). I'm interested in opinions on:

Emmie (possibly Emmeline as full name although we would never use it unless she wanted to when she was older)
Isla
Amelie
Lola

We already have a little boy with a short first name. Thank you!

I love Emmie.
But would use the name Emma or Emily as full name.

LittlemissMama67 · 05/04/2022 09:52

Emmie

Elfbeth · 05/04/2022 08:33

Emmeline nn Emmie is beautiful and bonus that it’s less popular

AnnaSW1 · 05/04/2022 00:43

Amelie

Buttercup54321 · 05/04/2022 00:25

Isla

helpmum2003 · 03/04/2022 13:36

I like them all.

My fave would be Emmeline nn Emmie. Isla and Amelie next. Then Lola.

AuntieStella · 03/04/2022 13:28

Lola
Emma ka Emmie (don't like Emmeline)
Isla
Amelie

RoundGlass · 03/04/2022 13:06

Emma nickname Emmie

KylieCharlene · 03/04/2022 13:00

Lola

Hadtocomment · 03/04/2022 12:42

Emmie or Lola for me.

FayCarew · 03/04/2022 12:24

Or Emily

FayCarew · 03/04/2022 12:22

Emmie - Emma is much nicer
Isla - overused
Amelie - overused about 15 yrs ago, never really liked it
Lola - blends in with all the Lily, Lila, Luna, Lyra names, so a bit meh

Emmie stands out because the others are meh, but I'd put Emma or Emmeline on the BC

Spikeyball · 03/04/2022 11:06

I prefer Emmeline (Emmie) because it is less popular than the others. Or Emma.

Twizbe · 03/04/2022 11:00
@Twizbe it's interesting to me that having a short list works for some. I always wished I'd just decided in advance because once baby arrives I found they don't suit any of the adult names I have on my list as just looks like a baby and no name on Earth seems to suit

I love your list especially Emmie
Tbf it was a mix for me. I had a set boys name both time and luckily my top boys name suited my son when he was born.

I found girls names so hard. I felt a lot were just too 'girly' or 'flowery'. I'm very tall and my daughter is likely to be the same. I just couldn't imagine a 6ft Lilly or Isla etc.

TenThousandSpoons · 03/04/2022 10:30

Isla is my favourite or if you would consider Emma you could use the nickname Emmie.

loulou2021 · 03/04/2022 09:46

Thanks everyone for your opinions! Maybe having a shortlist and then deciding when she's here (if she is a she!!!) is best.

Lovely names. My favourite is Isla.

Mumofgirls2017 · 03/04/2022 08:36

I like Emmeline
Then Isla, others fine too

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 03/04/2022 08:28

Emmeline - Emma is better or Anna
Isla - very popular - how about Lois or Iris?
Amelie - Amelia is better but very popular - Emily?
Lola - it’s ok, the best of your choices

Whiskeypowers · 03/04/2022 08:26

Lola

DogsAndGin · 03/04/2022 08:24

Amelie

Firebird83 · 03/04/2022 08:19

Emmeline is nice. The others are overused.

SallyWD · 03/04/2022 07:58

I love Emmeline - it's beautiful. My second favourite is Isla. It's a lovely name but many of them about.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 03/04/2022 07:58

Isla is the name I hear everywhere.
Amelie is lovely- though slightly prefer Amelia and the former being a nickname
Lola is lovely
Emmie- I’d prob just go with Emma
