My mum has 2 friends named Kay and to me, it's a
Maureen/Angela/Mavis sort of name. Horrid.

DogsAndGin · 06/04/2022 20:21

Is this a joke?! You can’t call a baby Kay! Absolutely awful

peaceinourtime · 06/04/2022 07:23

Kay is nice on its own. I know Kay aged in her thirties. You could also go with Kayla if you like that.

MissFranKubelik · 05/04/2022 21:49

It’s beautiful! I love it. What a breath of fresh air of a name.

AlwaysLatte · 05/04/2022 00:40

I like it actually, for girl or boy.

Buttercup54321 · 05/04/2022 00:17

Kay is lovely.
Kay Elizabeth

Enko · 02/04/2022 12:30

I like it also like Kaya/Kaja

Ambition9to5 · 02/04/2022 02:00

Love it, so much nicer than Kate
Quite a common short form for Kathleen or katherine

OldTinHat · 01/04/2022 23:20

I like it.

Comedycook · 01/04/2022 23:14

Middle aged typist from 1992

Greensleeves · 01/04/2022 23:13

I like it for a boy.

Electrox · 01/04/2022 23:09

Not keen I'm afraid. It sounds rather stolid.

RandomMess · 01/04/2022 23:06

"Are you ok Kay" gets very wearing.

Also it depends on your accent too IMHO

Powerplant · 01/04/2022 23:03

I too am surprised by the reactions I think it’s a lovely name boy or girl😊

MerylSqueak · 01/04/2022 22:56

I'm surprised by the reactions here. I like it. I've only ever know one Kay and it's stood out to me as a great name - a bit like Kit for a boy - that works very well with a long surname.

JanglyBeads · 01/04/2022 22:49

It was at its peak in the 1950s and 60s and derives from Katherine originally. Can't be shortened which is a bonus.

Famous - in its boy version - from The Snow Queen and The Box of Delights.

mrsfollowill · 01/04/2022 22:45

Oh I like this! a unusual at the moment -bit 1950ish- could be the next 'Elsie' or Ethel' but fresh sounding - and easy to spell!

Jemimapuddleduk · 01/04/2022 22:40

Really sorry but I don’t like it, sounds like decay

Luredbyapomegranate · 01/04/2022 22:36

Very boring.

Make it short for Katharine if you must.

heidihigh · 01/04/2022 21:49

Like it but the only Kay I know is short for Michaela and I much prefer that

fleapriest · 01/04/2022 21:24

It's my middle name and I hate it

dontblamemee · 01/04/2022 21:22

Hideous

ArtVandalay · 01/04/2022 21:18

I hate it, sorry. Really naff.

chesirecat99 · 01/04/2022 21:16

If you see Kay
Tell him he may
See you in tea
Tell him from me

AHungryCaterpillar · 01/04/2022 21:05

Bit boring
