Sye as in your eye.

Sye -Bell or sye-Bee-Leh or sye-Bee-Lee

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
WhyBeMeanLikeThat · 01/04/2022 14:41

I'd guess 'S-Ba-ley' or 'S-Bee-Ley' as it looks a bit like a very badly spelt Zulu name. If I met someone with that name I would ask them how to pronounce it.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 01/04/2022 14:35

S-eye-bell

Or a ‘quirky’ spelling of Sybil.

CaMePlaitPas · 01/04/2022 14:35

Si bell

Dumbledoressister · 01/04/2022 14:32

Si-belly

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 01/04/2022 14:22

Sib Eel or Sib Bell or Sib Bell Ee

Mochudubh · 01/04/2022 14:19

Si as in Simon.
Beel as in Jennifer Beels.

Sy beel.

WeeOrcadian · 01/04/2022 14:12

I hope that nobody is actually seriously considering name their child this, it's awful

Cornettoninja · 01/04/2022 14:08

@scottishnames

She's a rather terrifying goddess, worshipped in bloody festivals. Her priests castrated themselves: www.theoi.com/Phrygios/Kybele.html

Kih-beh-ley if ancient Greek or Roman, Sih-buh-lee in the English language today or See-bell if French (with a long 'e' - grave accent)

I’m concerned now that this is a rouse to get lots of people to say her name and raise her from the underworld 🤔
Obelisk · 01/04/2022 14:05

Sybil-ee

Saffzy · 01/04/2022 14:03

Sigh bell

Anoisagusaris · 01/04/2022 14:01
@Anoisagusaris

Cy wouldn’t be Sye would it??. Cycle
Oh yes!!

PeskyRooks · 01/04/2022 13:59

I would say sigh bell ee. But it's awful however you say it.

EmpressSuiko · 01/04/2022 13:43

I’d say it like Sibyl

demoness · 01/04/2022 13:32

I would guess sih-BELL-ee. I've read it before as the name of a Greek goddess but I've never actually heard it pronounced. I would probably just ask the person how to say it, if I encountered it IRL.

deadlanguage · 01/04/2022 13:24

I would probably guess Sigh-bell-ee but would have no idea

CandyCaneLane0 · 01/04/2022 13:23

Sye-bel-lee

hauntedvagina · 01/04/2022 13:21

I'm not sure how I'd say it, but it reads like a potential name for antivirus software.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 01/04/2022 13:21

Just like Sybil but an uglier way of spelling it ☹️

BuffyBeat · 01/04/2022 13:19

Sye as eye
Bell

I also don’t like it

User76745333 · 01/04/2022 13:15

I think most would assume it’s an odd spelling of Sybil and assume you love Fawlty Towers

scottishnames · 01/04/2022 13:15

The 'Kih' sound above is close to the first syllable of 'Kuh-beh-ley' in ancient pronouciation, as Plink suggests.

User12398712 · 01/04/2022 13:13

My first thought was kib-bailey. I was very much wondering where I got that pronunciation from until PlinkPLankPlunk and scottishnames came along!

nearlyspringyay · 01/04/2022 13:13

Sy bell e

I don't like like it.
