Nickname Roly.

What do you think?

I'm another that went straight to Roland from Grange Hill in the 80's. Not a great role model tbh

Huffle · 31/03/2022 20:42

I love it 🙂

allmysons · 31/03/2022 20:41

@LittleBearPad

Ratfanzz
😂😂😂
tearinghairout · 31/03/2022 20:38

I like it. It's my cousin's name, and he's lovely. It's an old, classic name, but not out there like Hector or over-used like Oscar. Wasn't Roland some sort of hero (in the Middle Ages)?

DogsAndGin · 31/03/2022 20:37

Seen Schitt’s Creek?! Roland is trailer trash and the name suits him perfectly

RancidOldHag · 31/03/2022 20:37

I've just had a highly localised 'mandela moment' - I would have sworn Roly was black, not apricot!!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 31/03/2022 20:37

Dreadful

Duracellbunnywannabe · 31/03/2022 20:37

Roland rat definitely.

PlinkPlankPlunk · 31/03/2022 20:33

Rat rapping - yeeaahh!

Definitely not. I hadn’t thought about it being similar to Orlando actually-which is a great name

RealHousewifeOfEastLondon · 31/03/2022 20:33

I quite like it! But not Roly, that's a cat's name!

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 31/03/2022 20:32

Roland Rat’s best mates were called Kevin & Errol, so if those are the names of your other DCs then yes, definitely!

Crabwoman’s right though, no kids are going to think of that.

Nelliephant1 · 31/03/2022 20:31

Sorry no. It should forever be a rats name.

Sillybillypoopoomummy · 31/03/2022 20:30

only a certain generation (aka the parents!) will think of Roland Rat. I really like it, I think it is ageless and really like it. I also like Roly.

Madrenetterhere · 31/03/2022 20:29

Just, no.

Blueuggboots · 31/03/2022 20:28

Roland....Roly, from Grange Hill?
And then rat.

Crabwoman · 31/03/2022 20:26

All I can think of is "eyyyyyyy rat-fannnzzz"

But I am nearly 40 so it may only be an issue for those of a certain age.

Misreadprob · 31/03/2022 20:25

Roly from bad uncle

suckingonchillidogs · 31/03/2022 20:24

No! Just say no, say no.

User839516 · 31/03/2022 20:23

Is Roly not the fat puppy from 101 Dalmatians?

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 31/03/2022 20:22

Rat

Roly Poly

The chocolate Rolos

"Oi!! Roland!"

None exactly heroic sorry OP

demoness · 31/03/2022 20:21

It doesn't appeal to me but I think it's a serviceable name. Kids aren't going to know about the rat or the Grange Hill character.

It isn't popular at all, which could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it.

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 31/03/2022 20:20

Two thoughts

Roland butter
"I feel sorry for you Ro-Land"

Either way, no

Oh, actually also Rat Rapping

Heartofglass12345 · 31/03/2022 20:20

Children aren't going to know any of these references. If you like it, use it!

RedWreck · 31/03/2022 20:17

Roly from Eastenders, a giant apricot poodle.
Roland Rat.....ehhhhh Rat Faaaans...
Ro-land from Grange Hill.
All from the 80s but a quick read of the thread tells you a lot of people still remember!

TeddyTonks · 31/03/2022 20:17

I'd never used Orlando or Reyland...nothing wrong with them, just too out there for me and would look really odd with my other DC names. This one is already known as the bonus baby so don't want to make it seem even more if a wildcard 😂
