Hi All, would love to know what people think of this name and if there’s any other similar type ones which we might like. Quite like 2 syllables and traditional. Know that isn’t to everyone’s tastes but I’ve got 2 already and would like them to sort of “go” 😊

I picked it for DD’s middle name- she’d actually really suit it as her first name, but alas.

I couldn’t abide it being pronounced Marfa though. Wouldn’t be a problem with the accent where we live, but it might be in other parts of the country.

It's a family name and it's hideous. I had an Aunt Martha and I will draw a veil over what my mother said about her but it was nothing good and it was totally true.

Martha gets shortened to Marf, which is not to everyone's taste.

MissMaple82 · 30/03/2022 11:46

Love it, but it's very common

sorryforswearing · 30/03/2022 11:45

Nothing wrong with it but not for me. It’s just personal taste.

Viviennemary · 30/03/2022 11:41

I can't see the appeal of it personally. But it is a perfectly reasonable name.

RewildingAmbridge · 30/03/2022 11:40

It's nice, simple traditional feel, difficult to shorten, the newest baby on the Archer's is called Martha so I don't think it's too unusual.

I love Martha. I'm expecting a boy but Martha is on my list of girls names: also Margot, Lottie, Sophie, Ellie, Ruby and Nancy.
