Which do you prefer and why?

Marianna brings the Mariana Trench to my mind instantly.

Fivebeanchilli · 31/03/2022 23:36

I don't like Marianna or Maria but I love Marianne (S and S and also it just has a nicer sound). Marianne Daisy is lovely

peaceinourtime · 31/03/2022 23:33

Marianna will properly just turn in to Anna just because it's such a long name compared to something simple like Anna . Are you ok with that?
Maria is the better of the two.

MrsPsmalls · 31/03/2022 03:02

Maria is best. Marianna is too frilly for no extra value. A baby Maria would be so cool

movingsoon13 · 31/03/2022 02:07

I like them both, Marianna daisy is very pretty but I can't see anyone using the full Mariannalet alone daisy, they might use Mari or anna. But with maria they might use the full maria, or ria daisy , ria, mae etc

Marty13 · 30/03/2022 21:53

How about Marian or Marianne ?

I prefer Mariana to Maria simply because Maria is soooo common and boring.

Ellmau · 30/03/2022 19:04

Mariana is very pretty.

KylieCharlene · 30/03/2022 08:14

Marianna Daisy is a beautiful name.
It also suits all ages and is very pretty in an elegant, classy way.
Maria just seems a bit 70s to be somehow and I can't imagine a baby Maria.

Memyselfandfood · 30/03/2022 07:44

Marianna

CoffeeBeansGalore · 29/03/2022 05:16

Marianna. Knew an awful Maria at school which put me off the name for life.

Pandypuff · 29/03/2022 05:06

I love Marina but actually like the religious element of Maria and Marianna and Marina doesn't have that

TheLadyDIdGood · 29/03/2022 03:19

How about Marina instead of Marianne?

Luredbyapomegranate · 29/03/2022 03:01

I don’t like Maria so Marianna - although prefer Marianne

I don’t think Daisy flows with either really, but middle names are rarely used so it doesn’t matter

saraclara · 29/03/2022 00:03

I honestly would just prioritise the name you want to actually call her all day every day for the rest of her life! How it flows with a middle name is only what you think about when you're choosing the name. No-one has used my middle names or my kids middle names since the first few weeks of my/their lives (unless teasingly!).

It honestly doesn't matter. It's her first name that's important. The rest is fluff, or for when you fill in forms, however important it seems now!

DramaAlpaca · 28/03/2022 23:57

I'd pronounce Marianna/Mariana the same, just like OP does.

As has just been suggested I like Marianne Daisy best, but I'd choose Marianna/Mariana over Maria. As for why, it sounds younger, fresher and less possibly religious than Maria.

WeasilyPleased · 28/03/2022 23:52

Actually I prefer Marianne Daisy to both of them. It flows better.

ButterRose · 28/03/2022 16:01

Marien is another option

Pandypuff · 28/03/2022 15:59

And I love Daisy but wouldn't use it as a first name

Daisythedieselrailcar · 28/03/2022 15:59

Maria. Marianna is a bit fussy. Daisy works fine with Maria.

Pandypuff · 28/03/2022 15:59

Actually, we live abroad so it will get said how we want it said here Grin

Daisy Maria flows best

KirstenBlest · 28/03/2022 15:50

@Pandypuff

I want the Marry-Anna pronunciation, which is why I spelled it 'Marianna' in the OP, but i would actually use the 'Mariana' spelling (I saw on another thread about this name that a lot of people assumed 'Mariana' would be pronounced Marry-Arna, which is why I thought it would be less confusing to just spell it Marianna in my post Smile
It will get said as Marry- Ah-nuh regardless of the double n. How about Mariella or Marina instead?

Maria
Marianna is too frilly for me. Also, is it Marry-Anna or Marry-Arna??

averythinline · 28/03/2022 15:27

Mariana 1st....although also like Marguerite...which means daisy!

Although sound wise like Daisy 1st
