I knew a horrible Cherry but it’s still a nice name.

Rosemary2022 · 26/03/2022 17:01

Polly can be a nickname for Alexandra.

What about Alexandra Maria - nickname Polly?

TabithaTittlemouse · 26/03/2022 17:00

If Maria is the middle name you won’t be using it daily so ignoring the middle name I like Polly most. I think. Although Cherry is lovely too. Grin

Zillamop · 26/03/2022 16:56

Cheryl Maria with Cherry as nickname.

Ohyesiam · 26/03/2022 16:52

Someone called Cherry might love it, or she might feel it’sa bit of a liability/ burden. If you choose a more neutral name, like Maria, it gives flexibility.

Phormiumjester2 · 26/03/2022 16:40

I love Polly.

I don't love Cherry Maria. It sounds a bit like a stripper name or a drag queen.

stuntbubbles · 26/03/2022 16:40

Polly.

Cherry Maria is the name of a body on CSI: Miami.

Polly can be quirky or cute or serious or sensible. I know a couple and they’re very different and it suits them both. Also Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf!

Musmerian · 26/03/2022 16:39

Polly is actually short for Mary - which is itself the anglicised form of Maria. So why not call her Maria but use Polly as her nickname?

Sonata13 · 26/03/2022 16:38

Cherry Marie goes better.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/03/2022 16:36

It's one of those threads where the OP has a very specific view of what their DD will be. Cute, quirky, sweet.

Names need to be flexible, so your dour, stoic, sensible child isn't lumbered with Cherry FGS.

Summerfun54321 · 26/03/2022 16:35

What’s the Maria? A middle name or double barrelled first name?

RoostasTowel · 26/03/2022 16:34

Maria

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 26/03/2022 16:18

Am I the only one slightly disappointed that this isn’t a new Ben & Jerry’s flavour?

1forAll74 · 26/03/2022 16:14

Neither. I have a friend who calls her Parrot Polly though.

ofwarren · 26/03/2022 16:10

Polly because Cherry Maria sounds like a cocktail

Hadjab · 26/03/2022 16:06

Umm, neither, if I’m honest.

Soul11Soul · 26/03/2022 16:05

Just Maria. It's a beautiful name alone.

cherryonthecakes · 26/03/2022 16:03

I like Cherry but when coupled with Maria ,it makes me think of a cocktail.

canyoubelievethat · 26/03/2022 16:00

Polly Maria

SunshineAndFizz · 26/03/2022 15:59

Polly. Not a Cherry fan.

KineticSand · 26/03/2022 15:58

Please not Cherry

Ladylornax12 · 26/03/2022 15:57

Cherry Maria sounds like a drag queen, so I vote Polly!

Adventing · 26/03/2022 15:57

Polly Maria

Loopytiles · 26/03/2022 15:54

Neither name goes with Maria.

Cherry Maria sounds like ice cream.

Maria Cherry could work though!

PasDevantLesElephants · 26/03/2022 15:53

I speak as a former Polly. Don't do it, it's awful.
