I don't like it. I love Hendrix and Hugo (although my friend has a cat called Hugo)

ButterRose · 29/03/2022 15:36

Please don't call him Ocean imagine him as an adult trying to introduce himself for work...just no.... If you like the meaning how about Kai or Morgan, even Sailor or Fisher would be better if it's the sound you like definitely go something like Oisin, Orson, Oscar etc

SnowdropFox · 29/03/2022 15:17

I knew one in his 30s. Loved his name. Pronounces it Oh-see-an.
I love nature names but don't particularly like this one myself though I'd rather that than another Jack or Harry.

Goldbar · 28/03/2022 18:51

I heard a little Ocean being called by his mum in the playground. If I'm honest, I did do a double-take but then I find a lot of names nowadays a bit odd.

It's ok and appears to be becoming more popular but I'm not sure he'd thank you for it when he's older. But maybe today's Keiths, Neils and Carls feel the same, and those were all very 'solid' names of their time.

MarmiteCoriander · 28/03/2022 18:38

I know a Storm. I'm not keen on the name myself, but actually prefer it very slightly over Ocean.

Is is the way it sounds or the meaning you like? What about looking up the word Ocean/Sea/Storm/water in other languages?

GucciBear · 28/03/2022 18:27

Hugo is great. I suppose you could have Ocean as a middle name? Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean etc.. Poor little mite.

Whadda · 28/03/2022 18:26

I know an Ocean.

Sister of a little boy named Navy.

Awful. On both counts.

Startuplife · 28/03/2022 18:24

I think it’s nice but there’s a few Instagram influencers who have used it recently which would stop me from choosing it

Wombat98 · 28/03/2022 18:22

It's a model of campervan...

ArtVandalay · 28/03/2022 18:21

Apart from Hugo, they’re all daft and try-hard.

Can you imagine having to introduce yourself as Ocean?

Roselilly36 · 28/03/2022 18:19

Awful

Babadook76 · 28/03/2022 18:11

@DPotter

Please don't use this word as a name for the most precious being you will have in your life.

It's not a name, it's a word for a geographical feature, a large body of water.

I find comments like this ridiculous. You can say things like that about all sorts of names.
Thedogscollar · 28/03/2022 18:08

I'd go back to the drawing board.

DotDotDotDotDot · 27/03/2022 20:09

I met a male O’cean recently believe it or not!
I think I like Hugo best from your list.

ArcheryAnnie · 27/03/2022 07:57

I've only known one Ocean, he was Italian and a right wanker. Incredibly posh, but saw himself as very humble. He'd be in his fifties now.

Appolonia · 27/03/2022 07:53

One of the women on Vanderpump Rules TV show recently called her daughter Ocean.

stuntbubbles · 27/03/2022 07:30

Ocean is awful and so are all the others, sorry.

WaffleWaffles · 27/03/2022 07:26

I've only known females called Ocean when I was a child. I know a fair few babies called river lately boys and girls though

DogsAndGin · 26/03/2022 17:07

Hugo is the only actual name from your list imho

RuthW · 26/03/2022 17:06

No, but I know an adult female Ocean.

Titsflyingsouth · 26/03/2022 15:22

I think it's a bit naff, tbh. Also hate Hugo which seems a bit prim and stuffy.

Ashton and Oakley are OK. Unusual enough that there won't be millions running around the playground but also unlikely to raise too many eyebrows.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 26/03/2022 15:15

It's not a name, it's a word for a geographical feature

I’ve always felt like that about Savannah too.

Im not keen on Ocean; Oisin is better

JamSandwich89 · 26/03/2022 15:07

If you like it and are willing to put up with people commenting on how they don't like it, go for it. If you really like it, who cares if other people don't. Smile No matter what name you pick there will be someone who doesn't like it!

MonkeyPuddle · 26/03/2022 15:06

I’m not keen on any of your choices but Hugo is my fave of the bunch.

QueenofDestruction · 26/03/2022 15:05

I love it but I love the sea. I met a prize winning surfer called Ocean, he was lovely
