I love it, but would like opinions.

If you don't like it, why not? Generally would like opinions ☺️

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Blackmagicqueen · 25/03/2022 23:03

Sorry but it reminds me of a dogs name as historically there was one in our family!

Sisisimone · 25/03/2022 22:59

What - Saxon as opposed to Sackson?
🤣🤣

OverByYer · 25/03/2022 22:35

I was at Uni with a Saxon. He thought he was cool.

WeasilyPleased · 25/03/2022 22:34

I'd imagine the parents were caught in an 80s glam rock time warp.

ArtVandalay · 25/03/2022 22:34

Terrible. Really bad.

Barrawarra · 25/03/2022 22:32

Oh op, I hate these baby name threads when op states they love a name and genuinely want opinions, but wonder how you are feeling reading this! I remember offering up one name that got slated and I just couldn’t have used it. This is why not to tell folk what name you want imho, if it’s one you really love.

But I agree with other posters, not for me either. Like the x sound but not the relationship with Anglo-Saxon. Just associate those words negatively in terms of history and imperialism.

MostlyNormalSometimesOdd · 25/03/2022 22:27

I grew up in the 80s, for me, Saxon will forever be this band

It makes me think of sage and onion stuffing....

LizziesTwin · 25/03/2022 20:29

DC knows a Sachsen, v similar but presumably not as white supremacist?

Maireas · 25/03/2022 20:24

Erik Bloodaxe
Harald Hardrada
Swein Forkbeard
Hereward the Wake
They would all go with any surname and yet still conjour up days of yore with shield walls, axe throwing and the wergild.
Go for it!

lunar1 · 25/03/2022 20:19

First thought is I would wonder if you we racist.

Chocoqueen · 25/03/2022 20:18

I mean it's not a name, but it is my 'if I had a boy and was cool enough to pull it off' name. Well it would be but I'm pretty sure DH would leave me, and from reading pp's responses about white supremacy I'm going off of it.

TatianaBis · 25/03/2022 20:16

But not as good as Roman.

lighterskies · 25/03/2022 20:16

Do you have strong Germanic heritage?

It is definitely better than Angle as a name.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 25/03/2022 20:13

I generally like unusual or rarely used names.

Saxon is awful. Awful.

Instantly thought it to be the name of a child with parents who were ‘Greasers’ into shit rock.

HomecomingKween · 25/03/2022 20:10

I'd wonder if you were a white supremacist or a fan of the deeply unfashionable band.

What - Saxon as opposed to Sackson?

Tudor/ur is a very old Welsh name.

energywavering · 25/03/2022 19:48

What are all these names about? Like Jaxon as opposed to Jackson (which is a surname anyway).
I might be old fashioned or maybe a bit judgemental but my god how can you consider calling your child that?
It's like calling your daughter Tudor

Totalwasteofpaper · 25/03/2022 19:48

Saxon sofas...
Old.people sofas

It's a no from me

ladygindiva · 25/03/2022 19:46

Dp had a friend called Saxon at university. I really like it.

TatianaBis · 25/03/2022 19:36

Saxon Jenkins is another.

TatianaBis · 25/03/2022 19:35

I don’t see why it’s not a name, in an age where not-names are used all the time. There have been people called Saxon - Saxon Sidney Turner for one, the only issue for me is the white supremacy angle.

Synchrony · 25/03/2022 19:33

I'm sorry, my first thought was also white supremacy.

AnotherPoster · 25/03/2022 18:25

I don't see why not. Tudor is a name. People call their sons Roman. Norman is a totally established, if rather unfashionable, name. Saxon works just as well as any of these. Personally, I quite like Jute!

It wouldn't work for me though. Celt through and through here!

Unsureaboutit9 · 25/03/2022 18:24

I don’t like it because:
1)white supremacy
2) it’s not a name
3) will get shortened to sax or sax I.e sex/sexy. Or Sak potentially which isn’t any better.
4) means dagger or short sword, just doesn’t seem cute for a baby.
