How is Madeline pronounced? I’ve often wondered. As in Caroline or Christine?
I only know Madeleine, which is lovely.

The one I know (teenager) goes by Madeleine, tolerates Maddie, and also gets Mads.

I know several Madeleines-one is Maddy, one is Mads and one prefers the full Madeleine.

I have a similar long name - think Anastasia and it’s never been shortened. I have siblings with similar long names who also haven’t been shortened.

It doesn't matter how many Madeleines choose not to use a nickname because none of them is your daughter. If she grows up and wants to be called Maddy, is that acceptable to you? Because if it's not I would steer clear of the name. Madeline would be your daughter's name, not yours, and trying to control that is an uphill battle and not fair to her.
