Sensible: Chrissie
Not so silly: Queenie (it was my Grandmas name)

GahAndTheBear · 22/03/2022 10:03

My name is crap. Properly crap. Start a terrible names no one should inflict on a child thread and it’ll be mentioned within 3 replies. And then repeatedly.

Which is to say I’ve given this thought (but the logistics of changing your name - and the family politics too - are awful).

I’d choose to be Ailis.

@bowtieandheels

My name has been mentioned as a silly name, I absolutely love my name and wouldn't change it. I think it's been life changing and was the best gift my parents ever gave me!
My interpretation of silly was a name I love but is quite out there so if it was mine - which would be amazing, I’ve never met one - it wasn’t an insult!

Sensible: Alessia

DoorLion · 16/03/2022 22:33

@DaisyWaldron

Surely we could all change our names if we wanted to?

I've often considered using my very unusual middle name, but I feel that I've finally settled into my first name now, and like the abbreviation I use, so I'm sticking with it.

Yes, actually I wouldn’t change my name - which has already been mentioned on here, woo! - I was thinking more if I had to have a different name.
TimeforaGandT · 16/03/2022 22:10

Miranda (although slightly less keen after the television show - fell in love with it from reading the Tempest)

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 16/03/2022 22:08

I wish I was called my full name and not the shortened version. I love my full name now but have got so used to introducing myself as the shortened version for the past 40 odd years it’s who I’ve become!
