Opinions on Ruby -
Middle name suggestions also welcome (something longer as we have a short 4 letter surname) thanks

Ruby Matilda sounds perfect.
Ruby Miranda
Ruby Emmanuelle
Ruby Augustina

I think it's beautiful. I did watch upstairs/downstairs but can't say I remember that name in it.

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 15/03/2023 08:37

Ruby Tamara

Sadiegirl87 · 15/03/2023 07:45

I really like Ruby and had considered for my DD.
I think it is relatively popular but who cares, doesn't mean you'll actually meet another Ruby as there is such a bigger range of names being used these days.
For Ruby middle names ending in a could be nice such as Ella, Anna, Nora,
Or others like Jane, Mae, Jean

Sunnytwobridges · 16/04/2022 16:35

I love Ruby and if I had a chance to have another dd that would be her name. I have never ever met a Ruby, not as an adult or a child and I’ve been around a long time 😂

LowbrowVictoriana · 16/04/2022 16:05

Beautiful name!
I know only one - aged 10 - despite PPs saying how popular it is.

Lemonlemon88 · 15/04/2022 06:08

Ruby is lovely

Ruby Amelia
Ruby Louisa
Ruby Francesca
Ruby Matilda

user1492757084 · 15/04/2022 06:02

It's too popular now.

Why not choose Audrey, Lucy, Ella, Deirdre, Maisie, Scarlett

Cressie2 · 09/04/2022 23:27

I think of an old lady when I hear this name. I guess it would depend on the girl and whether they could pull it off.

lisaandalan · 17/03/2022 22:49

I love Ruby. X

Frollop · 17/03/2022 22:46

Ruby Estella
Ruby Margo
Ruby Love
Ruby Violet
Ruby Belle
Ruby Saffron
Ruby Robyn
Ruby Taylor

Infinitemoon · 17/03/2022 22:40

It's Ok. It reminds me of bond girl or something similar.

Youcansaythatagainandagain · 17/03/2022 22:36

@Lilaclavenders

Personally I don't find Ruby very elegant or beautiful sounding.
I don't either. Probably the opposite tbh.
TheMarzipanDildo · 17/03/2022 22:17

I love it.

But I’ve never seen Upstairs Downstairs!

DarkCorner · 17/03/2022 22:10

Love it. I didn’t want to use it for DS (if hed been a girl) as thought it was too popular. But hardly know any at his school!

Ruby Matilda is lovely.

tearinghairout · 17/03/2022 22:04

Ruby Tuesday - The Rolling Stones. Lovely song with lovely lyrics :)

Violetandpurple · 17/03/2022 10:12

We are thinking perhaps

Ruby Matilda 🥰

I quite like it - it’s sweet but punchy. I think it was mega popular about 15 years ago but less now.

I think you want something classic in the middle

Ruby Abigail
Ruby Elizabeth
Ruby Adelaide
Ruby Eleanor
Ruby Caroline
Ruby Charlotte
Ruby Frances

rubyslippers · 16/03/2022 15:25

I love it
Pair with a long middle name

Cindie943811A · 16/03/2022 15:23

In our household when the name Ruby crops up we laugh and say Ruu-by. mimicking the Cook in Upstairs Downstairs.
So I don’t see it as an elegant name. Can’t think of any great authors, musicians, politicians etc called Ruby either

BelleNoir · 16/03/2022 15:22

Absolutely beautiful name

Pineapples9087 · 16/03/2022 14:06

I think Ruby is a beautiful name. My friend has a DD named Ruby, her middle name is Sophia. She's 8.

JustMaggie · 16/03/2022 13:53

Go for it! Ruby is a pretty name.

Violetandpurple · 16/03/2022 13:51

@AHungryCaterpillar

I love the name ruby but I don’t think it’s rare, the opposite actually, dd was almost ruby but the midwife put me off the name 🤣
My first born was almost ruby then I heard/read it was extremely popular. This was 10 years ago .. we've only ever met 2!
