Thoughts on the name Elodie (nn Elle/Ellie) and middle name suggestions?

It’s lovely! Getting popular now but lovely name.

midsomermurderess · 16/03/2022 11:09

I find it a bit faddy.

KirstenBlest · 16/03/2022 10:56

It's nice in a french accentt but meh in a UK one.
The Ellie trend is on the way out

Caramelcap · 16/03/2022 08:01

I know two Elodies - one grown up (French) and one child (Welsh).

I love the name ❤️

NurseBernard · 16/03/2022 05:10

A bit twee, lacks substance.

I’d definitely go with Elle as a nickname (again, less twee, more substantial), not the ubiquitous Ellie. However, our taste in names probably runs a little differently.

It's a "no" from me. too sickly sweet . Sorry.

Another Ellie. So bland and inoffensive that there's nothing really to comment on. I'd pick something a bit more interesting in the middle.

I much prefer Melodie

buckleten · 15/03/2022 22:06

I know a grown up one, Elodie Sonia, I think it's a beautiful name.

Bouledeneige · 15/03/2022 21:57

I have one. She's in her 20s and never met another. She's Elodie Isobel which goes with her surname.

She has lots of nicknames - the most recent is Elle. She's never been called Melody by mistake.

gingerhills · 15/03/2022 21:55

I like it. It's pretty and chic.

fitzbilly · 15/03/2022 21:52

I love it

ELM8 · 15/03/2022 21:50

@LethargeMarg I came on to see if anyone had made the hills reference Grin that's where I first heard the name too!

Lovely name though..

ClandestineAdulation · 15/03/2022 21:50

Elodie Grace
Elodie May
Elodie Anna

Disagree with a pp about avoiding one syllable middle names as I think there are a lot of sounds in Elodie ‘El-Oh-Dee’ and a long middle name may be too much!

Just my opinion and obviously it has to go with your surname too!

WholeMilkIsMinging · 15/03/2022 21:36

It’s quite pretty but a bit faddy and fussy to me, like Amelie (unless you’re French, of course)

I agree with this and am not keen.

Eminybob · 15/03/2022 21:26

It was my first choice girls name. I had 2 boys so never got to use it. I love love love it.

YellowMonday · 15/03/2022 21:26

I really like it. Cute nickname options too (I have a name which you can't shorten, so this is something I always look for as I have the most random and not great nicknames from my family/friends lol).

nearlyspringyay · 15/03/2022 21:21

Love it. DH vetoed it. I know two and they only go by Elodie.

ofwarren · 15/03/2022 21:16

I'm not a fan. It sounds like you have missed the M off Melody.

LethargeMarg · 15/03/2022 21:12

I love it I still am a bit sad I didn't call dd2 elodie but at the time she was born there was a character in the hills (mtv reality show) called elodie and it was where I'd first heard the name and dh refused to name one of the kids after someone from the hills!

Luredbyapomegranate · 15/03/2022 21:10

It’s quite pretty but a bit faddy and fussy to me, like Amelie (unless you’re French, of course).

Elodie Frances
Elodie Beatrice
Elodie Catherine

I’d just avoid the single syllable cliches (May, Rose, Grace, and anything similar like Hope or Pearl)

whysoserious123 · 15/03/2022 21:07

Elodie is lovely. Do you have any ideas for middle names at all?
