A lovely name.

FlamingoDust · 18/03/2022 10:56

Really like it

Violetandpurple · 17/03/2022 22:40

To me it sounds like the name of a company or perhaps a medicine.
Wasn't even aware it was a name tbh.

Sid66 · 17/03/2022 22:23

Sounds like a type of wool for knitting jumpers

SW1amp · 17/03/2022 22:10

I really like it other than it gets shortened to ‘Leggy’ which just sounds like something a Jilly Cooper character would call his girlfriend

KayEmAy · 17/03/2022 22:09

Love it!

Giggorata · 16/03/2022 04:49

Love it.

WeasilyPleased · 15/03/2022 22:10

I'm not keen. It sounds too aggressive to me. It gives me visions of a tough cookie in a business suit smoking a cigar.
God knows where I got that from.

Tezza1 · 15/03/2022 20:49

It's absolutely one of my favourite girls' names.

Lurking9to5 · 15/03/2022 20:33

Love it!

Dinoteeth · 15/03/2022 20:33

I can't decide if it's a maths term Algebra or some sort of musical term.

inappropriateraspberry · 15/03/2022 20:29

I'm well under 50, and my first thought was car!

PukkaP · 15/03/2022 20:15

I’m not keen. It sounds harsh and makes me think of an Austin Allegro

DramaAlpaca · 15/03/2022 20:10

Not for me. It's very hard sounding.

Luredbyapomegranate · 15/03/2022 20:08

It’s great. Very musical and feminine and strong too.

gingerhills · 15/03/2022 12:35

I love the meaning. Not so keen on the sound and it does have connotations of brash Tory gals from 1980s to me. Also not keen on the shortened versions: Ally or Leggy.

RuthW · 15/03/2022 12:15

I like it

MaudieandMe · 15/03/2022 11:58

My first car was a white Allegro with a square steering wheel and I painted pink and blue stripes down it. Grin

Anyone under 50 is unlikely to link the name with the car though, so go for it.

PonyPals · 15/03/2022 10:50

Friend is called Allegra and her nickname at school was viagra

PierresPotato · 15/03/2022 09:21

I liked the meaning but also then see it as not a great name for a quiet sort of person. When I really think in English terms I hear "leg."
Yes I've really gone off it.

PierresPotato · 15/03/2022 09:19

I used to quite like it but the two I've seen in the public eye are not very appealing. Si by association I've come to dislike it.

Blueuggboots · 15/03/2022 09:17

I like allegria better...pronounced ALLA-greeeyah... it means joy in Spanish.

girljulian · 15/03/2022 08:45

I love it, but at the same time it makes me think of what it means in musical terms, which in turn makes me think of that fairy story The Red Shoes where they’re cursed to dance forever until their feet bleed and (in the original version) they die. Admittedly this is not likely to be a common association!!

ISmellBurnings · 15/03/2022 08:43

Not a fan, sounds quite pretentious somehow.

MotherOfCrocodiles · 15/03/2022 08:40

Admittedly that's unlikely to matter to her peers!
