What do you think of the name Atticus? The sound, the associations you have, any thoughts really.

Thanks!

It isn't for me but a friend's dc has this name and it really suits them.

TenThousandSpoons · 11/03/2022 23:03

I really like it.
To Kill A Mockingbird is my association.
Everyone said it would become popular 10 years ago but it hasn’t. I don’t know any.

Theaspidistraiswilting · 11/03/2022 22:56

I love it!

Smoothyloopy · 11/03/2022 22:56

Can only think of Attics Hoy, Bad Education 😀

MartinMartinMarti · 11/03/2022 22:48

Try-hard.

blockbustervideo · 11/03/2022 22:42

No.

There's a character in greys anatomy whose name is atticus but he goes by link (surname). He's a nice guy in the show so the name has positive connections for me.

CatDogMonkeyPOW · 11/03/2022 22:34

It's the latest middle class name of choice, like Theodore and Miles before it. I've heard of several lately. There'll be one in every primary school class in a few years time.

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/03/2022 22:31

I like it
Attaboy for fun
It’s got a nice history

EcoCustard · 11/03/2022 22:30

I love it and it was on our list of 5 front runners for DC1. No association and only recognised from To kill a Mockingbird which stayed with me after reading it years ago. He just didn’t suit Atticus when born.

cafedesreves · 11/03/2022 22:29

There's one at nursery. It's a bit pretentious!

follygirl · 11/03/2022 22:29

It reminds me of Atticus Finch in 'to kill a mockingbird'. My fave book ever. It's a very 'grown up' name though, can't imagine a little boy with that name.

Jinglebellsoncake · 11/03/2022 22:28

I think it sounds quite pretentious Smile

I don't hate it. But don't like it either

bugbag · 11/03/2022 22:27

I love it. It's on my list

Snowbell99 · 11/03/2022 22:27

It also makes me think of "attic".

I also heard it everywhere a few years ago (not actually being used, only a few times, but many many times on websites). I also thought it would rise quickly but it never really did.

Snowbell99 · 11/03/2022 22:26

It's too harsh and a bit pretentious. No good nicknames, unless you like Attie.

Makes me think of lawyer and "To Kill a Mockingbird".

I can't really imagine an Atticus under the age of 30.

It is fine but so harsh and no way to soften it nicely or find a nickname for a younger kid.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 11/03/2022 22:25

I like it.
Everyone said it would become really popular about 6 years ago, but it never did.
I think it’s a name that needs to be carried off though. Bit of a risk.
